The Highlands football banquet is Sunday, January 29 and I understand they will have a season highlight video (that usually is unveiled/played for the first time at the banquet I believe).

 

This is a "highlight video" in name only. If I recall correctly, it contains virtually every play of the season -- from 2 angles -- and then mixes in some still photos as well. It is 1 of many reasons they have served 2 meals at the never-ending football banquet in past years. Nothing better to do on the SUN before the Super Bowl!!!

I know last year NewCath and Highlands were on the PBS field together being honored before the start of the last home game. Don't know about this year.

Any idea on how many kids have signed up to play frosh football this year. There are some in the community that feel this is going to be a down year in numbers as well as talent.

 

I watched almost every 7-8 grade game this past year. If 3/4 of the kids that played in the 8th grade showcase game come out for freshman, they'll be just fine!

HHS Frosh: Line: Hebel, Bradford ,Henschen, Richardson and ? Skill Players: Daugherty ,Hergott ,Cain ,Kendall, Ziegler, Welch, Johnson, Ochoa, Mayhew, Towles and ?

 

You'll be pleasantly surprised with Ochoa's talent. I would say he's a young Austin Collinsworth! He really could be that good. Dougherty is the next Justin Frisk. Kendall is the next Hamblin. Ziegler is the next Kramer. Connor Welch is a threat on both sides of the ball and has a great football head. He is a leader. There is plenty for coach Nick to be happy about.

If one single class can produce three of the greatest players ever to wear a Highlands uni during the late 90's to now then they could just be primed to be something special, you wouldnt be stretching the comparisions a wee bit would you? Those are some pretty special game changing players imo. Hamblem imo may be Highlands greatest player ever........Maybe we should just say that they posses the same kind of talent

Yeah I am thinking the same thing. But one of those Frosh may find himself kicking on Friday nights. He just might re-write the record books at HHS by the time he is done. You know the fun thing is, we keep getting to see some tremendous talent play on Friday nights and it doesn't look like the end is anywhere near.

Ochoa for sure took advantage of his opportunity when Johnson went down. He is going to be a very good player.

Wow, pretty strong comparisons there my friend. Keep in mind that these kids will only be frosh and have a lot of learning to do both physically and mentally. Not real sure how to assess this group, but that is what the offseason and preseason training is for.

How in the world can you even compare future , present and past players with all of the variables ? The experts can't even determine who is the best TEAM in HHS history . :idunno:

When PT was a Frosh , I'm sure you had him as an all-america 4 star QB , as a Senior , right ?
