Emory Riddle !! That is where Bellevue star Steve Ridder is AD! Kid could really fill it up!

I believe Ridder was the coach at Emory Riddle when Moose Moore signed with them. Ridder had played for Berea College, I think, which was also recruiting Moose.

What about Jack Jennings, Dickie Beal, and Doug Schlomer, from the Covington Holmes Bulldogs. They were some great high school players!!!

Let's not forget one of the best I saw. back in the day, was Dick Vories at Newport.Great shooter.

Moecephus, Since you mention McCarty as one of the best players, I was just wondering if you are too young to remember the playing days of Lawrence Bruce Macklin or if you do not think he deserves a high ranking in your list of great players.

 

 

I'm not young, but I did not get to see LBM play. But his name always came up as the gold standard of MCHS basketball as I was growing up. But I also didn't get to see Ellis Johnson play. I did get to hear him speak in the lunchroom at our senior Blue Devil Banquet....BTW Darrell Wheeler used to be all time leading MCHS scorer. Is he still?

I played against Bingo...(jennings)... he was a force. We had one guy play behind him and I usually fronted him and he still dropped 29 on us in the District. 4 below his average...... Jack had great BigMan moves, good ballfakes, footwork.... you don't see that much anymore..

Yes McCarty transfered from Flat Gap after his Mom & Dad got jobs in West Liberty.

 

I played with Leon & Bro. Lawrence. Leon was very talented in every facet of the game. Had some injuries though. Went to Eastern awhile.

Boone County's best was Allen "The Horse" Feldhouse! Played for Rupp at UK, haven't seen anyone close in the past 40 years.

 

This was Feldhouse senior I hope. Junior played at Mason County.

Agreed! If you're talking boys; hands down Draud. Smith was on a more successful team. Throw in the girls and Walz is right there with Draud, just look in the trophy case :thumb:
