With so many third round blow outs I figured I would ask this question. I think we need to get rid of the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.

Amen! No way They should play these games. 2, 3, and 4 seeds don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Oh wait isn't Boone a 4 seed and Holy Cross a 2 seed. Oops, scratch that.

Top team in each region only makes the playoffs! No need for pesky CCH and St X to get in the way! Lol

Go down to 3 classes and lets play football. Make the season district games way more important, Kentucky is too small for 6 classes.

Or let the Adults get out of the way and the kids enjoy playing high school football since they will never get it back :-)!

The KHSAA did a survey of coaches, ADs, Principals, and Superintendents.

 

Principals - 50% favor four teams, 29% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams.

 

ADs - 44% favor four teams, 34% favor two teams, 20% favor three teams

 

Coaches - 57% favor four teams, 22% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams

 

Supts - 41% favor four teams, 38% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams

 

TOTAL - 49% favor four teams, 30% favor two teams, 19% favor three teams.

 

I interview Julian Tackett today. He said six classes is here to stay and so is the four team format.

 

Interesting that the highest percent of people wanting to keep four teams are the coaches.

I'm sure they love extendining there season one week, driving an 1hr. or 2, and then getting absolutly crushed for a couple more hours. Knowing they didn't have a chance in hell to even be competitive is always good for self-esteem. The higher ups all voted for it? Must be a money-maker for someone. What was the average score of all the first round games? Any upsets at all?

It's all about the mighty $.

You know, no one makes anyone go to a single game, or even read the scores. if you don't like it, take a few weeks off. Pick it back up Thanksgiving.

I think the scores are the result of the state of Ky football right now. There are the haves and the have-nots, and the gulf between them is wide.

 

 

And then there's Trinity and Highlands.

Hey, how about this? If we want to eliminate blowout games, just forget the playoffs. Let's go to a BCS formula, choose the top two teams to play in the championship and be done with football before any real cold weather hits. Everyone will not have to worry about football getting in the way of Thanksgiving and all those basketball players will get to practice with their teams before the season gets started. Oh, and if a championship game gets to a 4TD spread at any time, let's just call it a mercy rule game and line up to shake hands. How about that?
