October 19, 201114 yr Is that from you? You have represented him? If so that's pretty cool! I think he got lucky but you also bring up a very good point. QB is the key in the NFL. There are so few of him Mike did know he had a nice ace in the hole. I think it's been a perfect storm for him though. Dalton has come out of the gates blazing, good schedule, Bengals are winning, Campbell gets hurt etc. If the Bengals haven't won a game+Campbell is healthy I think we would be talking about a different feeling around Cincy. For once the Bengals catch a break though! Future looks bright! I heard Mike Tomlin yesterday talking about how they are now raising up when looking at the Bengals future.
October 19, 201114 yr Say the two 1st rounders next year are something like the 18th and 22nd picks....Do you turn around and package one of them and maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder the next year to move up in the draft and select Trent Richardson? Offensively, RB is the team's only glaring problem area. The only other areas that have to really be addressed seem to be CB and S. :idunno:

October 19, 201114 yr Do you Ced is the problem? I think this is obviously Ced's last year in Cincy, and if you had to pinpoint one area on offense that this team needs to improve or could stand to improve, it's RB.
October 19, 201114 yr Agreed. However, who really believes that people were staying away while CP was still a member of the team despite not showing up? Anyone? I think 90% of the fans soured on CP and wanted him traded. They also saw that press conference where Marvin was extended and said that's it I'm done. The hot start and CP being traded for more than any fan could ever imagine has to bring some fans back. A win on the road over Seattle would be another bump. The ultimate bump(s) and the key to another sell out streak would be GM, scouts and an indoor practice facility. If he did those 3 things they would sell out for a couple years minimum. If they are successful during that time there would be another waiting list for tickets. His biggest problem is the Club Level and the Suites are empty.
October 19, 201114 yr 2012 MNF @ PBS Oakland Raiders vs. Cincinnati Bengals....Mark it down. Carson will be booed more than anyone ever has in the Nati.
October 19, 201114 yr Do you Ced is the problem? Bengals don't have to resign him, right? Or Jerome Simpson, or Caldwell. I would vote to let all three go, draft a RB, sign a FA WR (Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meachem) and grab a CB and a S with the other 2 picks in the 1st/2nd round.
October 19, 201114 yr Great deal Mike and outstanding negotiation tactics. Now continue to stay out of Marvin's way in coaching the team and selecting draft choices. It's working well. Leave Marvin alone and he'll make you a lot of money. I know it's tough for you to do so, being Paul Brown's son and wanting to convince the world that you know as much about the game as your father did and have lived up to the expectations of being Paul Brown's son, but stay out of the way and the Bengals could be more successful (on the field and financially) than you could have ever imagined. This is what I don't understand. His dad was ahead of the game with everything. He was the first person known to hire scouts. He trusted other people to make decisions for him and he is known as an innovator for that. Why does Mike think you don't need help to be better? If his Dad was around they would have probably had one of the bigger scouting staffs in football. My guess is the guy who first hired scouts would have some.

RB is the easiest position to fill in the NFL IMO. All that's needed is strength and fresh legs.
October 19, 201114 yr I really hope not. RB is the easiest position to fill in the NFL IMO. All that's needed is strength and fresh legs. I guess we have a difference in opinion on Richardson then. I see him as being on the AP level of talent. Not many of those guys out there.
October 19, 201114 yr Thank goodness Bowie Kuhn is not the commish or he might void this trade. Old school reference above. And yes had to respond to the "old school " reference as Vida Blue was one of my all time favorite pitchers..............Same two cities too Oakland/Cincinnati :notworthy:
October 19, 201114 yr See if what your saying is true, then he would have just traded him before the season. Before the season started he knew there would be thousands of empty seats. Most stadiums fill up due to season ticket holders, and he knew before the season that thousands gave them up. So if what your saying is true, then he would have before the season. It was well known that attendance would be ugly to start this year. This trade has nothing to do with the empty seats, it has to do with the value they got pure and simple. I am going to respectfully disagree that the trade had "nothing to do with the empty seats". The Bengals have turned down value many, many times in the past to make a point with their players. (Bill Bergey, to Lee Johnson, to Chad Johnson, to Carson) Season ticket sales are down but the hope was that value pricing including Family Four Packs, Two Game Packs, Triple Option Packs and walk up sales would take up some of the slack. Hasn't happened. Attendance figures at the end of the preseason and start of the regular season were among the lowest in the history of PBS. The empty seats clearly (and reasonably) contributed to Mike's decision to take bold action. If the Bengals continue to win, I think you will see the empty seat #'s shrink. The season ticket drop may keep the games from being sold out, but attendance numbers will likely rise as the result of performance on the field and in the board room.
