Run To State Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Madonna? :ohbrother: Oct 3, 2011 - Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, sources close to the event told SBNation.com on Monday. A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment. As you'd expect for an artist with her mass appeal, this isn't the first time Madonna's been approached about performing at the Super Bowl. In 1998, it was heavily rumored that Madonna would perform at Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami, only to have the plans fall apart before a deal could be reached. Likewise, Madonna was reportedly to headline the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXV, two years later, but backed out at the last minute. Click.... that's the sound that'll be heard around my house at halftime. Madonna To Perform At Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show, Sources Tell SBNation.com
UKMustangFan Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 That's the dumbest decision I've ever heard. Why wouldn't they allow someone who actually has fans perform?
Jim Schue Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Still not sure why anybody bothers with the SB halftime show. That's the time for checking the grill and refilling the bourbon glass.
Hangman Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Ughh.. That's worse than the Black Eyed Peas. Tom Petty has been my favorite of the last 5 or so years.
bugatti Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 That's the dumbest decision I've ever heard. Why wouldn't they allow someone who actually has fans perform?Seriously. Wouldn't you want to be in that meeting of the person who says, "I think we should get Madonna for the SB halftime show." If this were Superbowl XX, ok, I get it. With that said I am a huge Madonna fan and will be watching.
Clyde Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I saw something today that said the recent age of halftime acts was round 54.
rockmom Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I love Madonna! I'll watch. And my favorites of all time are Bruce Springsteen & U2.
rockmom Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 They tried to get Hank, Jr. but he decided to run for Senate instead.
RomanEmpire Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Maybe it's got something to do with her being the 4th top selling artist of all time only behind Beatles, Elvis and Michael Jackson. Love her or hate her, she's a living legend. I will be watching.
hrcarrier Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 My favorite Super Bowl halftime performances have been by Tom Petty and U2.

Love her or hate her, she's a living legend. I will be watching. Couldn't have said it better myself. It's only the most watched TV event of the year, and it's world-wide. Might want to have someone with with serious name recognition and mass appeal. She certainly fits the bill, as RE's post shows. Music is subjective, so I'll leave it at that.
gchs_uk9 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Seriously. Wouldn't you want to be in that meeting of the person who says, "I think we should get Madonna for the SB halftime show." If this were Superbowl XX, ok, I get it. Executive 1: "I think we should get Madonna for the SB halftime show." Executive 2: "Do you think she's available?" Executive 1: "I'll call." Ring...ring... Madonna: "YES I'LL DO IT!" Executive 1: "But we haven't even asked the question."
