See, that's the issue. Two of the three groups you list above, I have no idea who they are. And I am not a total "illiterate" on the music scene... although you might disagree. The White Stripes is the only one of those three I am familiar with but I don't see any way they would ever work at Super Bowl halftime. You have to go more mainstream at the Super Bowl where you need an act that can cross generations.

 

Looking at it that way, who would everyone like to see at halftime that would legitimately be an option?

 

How about Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beyonce, Journey ...?

Why? Who says you do? The viewership is already there, hell I would argue people might even be intrigued to check out someone they haven't heard of when presented in a "comfortable" medium. But, just like in most aspects of society the masses do what they are told, the people telling aren't original and/or creative, so you end up with the same polished turd you always have.

Disagree wholeheartedly. Why not take advantage of a captive audience and introduce them to something quality for a change, instead of force-feeding them the same, old, tired schlock they've already heard tens of millions of times already?

What was the later album that had the techno angle to it and I believe generated Grammy nomination? You don't like that one?

 

A Grammy nomination is not a ringing endorsement of quality. Milli Vanilli won a Grammy.

 

As far as Madonna is concerned, I gave up after "True Blue," and I really don't even like that one all that much. It just took me three albums to figure out that she was supremely untalented other than being really good at marketing. She has a terrible voice with very little range, doesn't play any instruments as far as I can tell and is a weak songwriter. She is a studio creation, nothing more, and her popularity is owed more to intense marketing blitzes than actual real talent. She's had the career Suzanne Vega should've had.

Frankly, I don't even remember who was on last year. Was last year the Black Eyed Peas? In reality I never remember who was on from year to year. I remember the Boss, U2 & the Rolling Stones performances, but I don't remember when they were. Other than that, I can't even remember who all has performed. :lol: I really watch the Superbowl for the football first, and the half time show is just a time filler anyway. And, don't even ask me who won the Superbowl in any particular year...I don't remember that either. :lol:

It was OK. Keep in mind...I don't have the highest expectations, and live performances are something I rarely seek to watch. You have to be something REALLY spectacular for me to want to watch/see you live.
