Newton isn't a very good passer and the receivers aren't very at catching the ball. That makes for a bad passing game. The line struggles to block which makes for a bad running game. Even thoug UF put up 48 points the defense actually had some bright spots. All in all about what I expected. For what ever reason UK just doens't play UF close.

They are awful, just awful. Only 4 posts this far after the game speaks volumes.

Actually, UK showed some moments of good play. Then they have moments (more unfortunately) where they are just horrible. There were many, many plays that you would disappointed to see in a JV football game, let alone a D1 game. The turnovers killed them. But when you watch the speed on Florida versus UK, there is an obvious and significant difference.

I remember some poster on here who took a lot of heat when he said that UK made a mistake by just giving him the job. It looks like people are starting to see what he was worried about...In all honesty though I didn't expect the team to end up looking this bad under him. I just thought UK missed a golden chance to possibly get a really good up and coming coach to come here after Brooks. Brooks had it going in the right direction when he left, so with things going well and this being an SEC school. They could have gotten an up and coming small school head coach, or a young top assistant from some big school IMO. Maybe that wouldn't have worked out either, however UK was in a position to at least get a coach that could have at least helped them maybe take another step forward.

 

As for Florida, who knows if we ever beat them. I know UT has that long streak against us too, but at least we actually play them close and have a shot. When it comes to Florida though we don't even come close.

I really didn't think Newton was too bad last night. The offensive line was the most overrated unit on the team in the preseason, they cannot run block against anyone. The RBs are terrible, the WRs (even my boy LaRod King) have not performed. If you take Travethan off the defense I don't know if UK ever makes a tackle. This is a terrible football team. Joker has not had a good season, but this team wouldn't be much better with Brooks IMO. There just isn't any talent on this team.

This the first UK game I've gone to in a few years. The people who invited me said that the parking lot area where they tailgate was not even close to the number of vehicles usually there. It was about half full. The crowd was down and many were leaving just after the 2nd half started. The attendance will get worse imo. It was a very blue Big Blue fan base last night.

Sad attempt at SEC football by UK. Just terrible.

I know it's fashionable to nail Newton but we have no clue as to how good he can be or cannot be until we see him a)behind a good o-line instead of one whose best block is the "lookout" block and b)receivers who can catch the easy passes and can make plays that other SEC receivers can make.

 

Until then there is no way of knowing. Andrew Luck would struggle if he was the QB.

Notice I posted this thread after coming home from my game, where I saw the final posted on the scoreboard, and unloading the truck. I was surprised there was no thread already.

All I know is this may have been the easiest money I have ever won. How did they only have Fla as a 19.5 PT favorite. Hate betting against the Cats but that was just too easy.
