No, you correctly bolded what I said--"should not be excluded from the discussion" based on strength of schedule. I didn't say strength of schedule has no "bearing on determining the best team ever". I'm not saying Clark 91 is the best team ever. I never saw them play. I'd like to know more about who was on that team and where they went on to play in college. Trinity 2011 clearly has the tougher schedule and by beating better teams you can certainly make the argument that T is the best ever. My point was simply that Clark 91 should not excluded from the discussion because of a weaker schedule. "Toughest Schedule Ever" and "Best Team Ever" are different questions and could yield different answers depending on the criteria used to answer the question. If we are looking for "Best Team Ever" one could look at LIT ratings, margin of victory, how many players went on to play D1, D2, NFL, how many started in college, how many made Allstate in high school, how many made all-conference in college, etc.. In my opinion, "Schedule" alone does not answer the question of "Best Team Ever".

Your giving MBA and Brentwood way too much credit.. They're good teams, but, not what they typically are, still good enough to beat the majority of Ky teams, but, not the juggernaut of past teams. Yes, John Hardin. They would beat both, not sure about Elder because I don't know as much about them, but, definately BA and MBA.. Those teams are good enough to beat some good teams, don't get me wrong, but, they aren't a powerhouse this year..

Montgomery Bell is down, maybe, based on the way Brentwood hammered them. But Brentwood (ranked third in midstate by the Tennessean) has done nothing since that opening game to show that they're "down." Brentwood beat Maplewood 35-7 the next week, and Maplewood was 12-2 and in the 4A semifinals last year.

As for the bolded , it's irrelevant ! I've seen teams with tons of D1 talent get beat by teams with no D1 talent at all. College ,pros , all state , all conference , none of that matters.

By heresay, conjecture, internet, comparing scores, blogs, HS websites, whoever talks the best game so to speak, because no one can honestly say they've seen every team play.. What other way is there? If you go to some of the Tn HS sites, you'll see that this is a rebuilding year for BA and MBA. Neither are expected to be state champs or even in the Top 3-4 in there class. I bring this up because so many people are talking about T being the best team in Ky history and how tough there schedule is. Well, it is tough, but, the BA and MBA teams are not what they typically are and that needs to be considered in this discussion. Now, if they hammer a Cinci St X team this week, who is up this year, then there accomplishments become much greater, imo...

Maplewood had a good year last year, but, barely broke 500 in 2009 and they are an average to better than average 4a team. I'd compare them to a Lone Oak, ACS type team. B.Academy should beat them 9 out of 10 times, be it, when they're down or up...

It's not Trinitys fault.. It happens..I agree about the annhilating them..I'd still wait till after this week to crown them anything..

I agree that Clark County 91 is impressive ,but you might want to look at Highlands 09 schedule and results. They are more impressive than the 91 Cark Co. team IMO. If Trinity stays undefeated they are the best ever without a doubt.

 

Are you seeing that Clark Co beat Boone, Trinity, and St. X in the playoffs? The only win that 2009 Highlands had that was comparable was the St. X victory. 2009 was great, but that playoff run trumps their year.

Dallas Johnson (I believe is his last name) stated if T goes undefeated this year they would have a seat at the table in the national championship conversation. Considered one of the best teams in the country but some argue they're not the best ever in KY???

 

If they run the table, no doubt about it.

 

Hell, Elder's radio guy said T was the best team he had ever seen come in the Pit.

We've all seen weak teams, Fern Creek comes to mind, that will pop out 2 or 3 D1 signees and still get handled by 6A Kentucky teams and end up with a losing record. But "tons" of D1 talent, I think of a team like, well, Trinity 2011. Take away Quick, Hatcher, Dawkins and White (highly likely D1 signees) and we wouldn't be having this discussion about them as "Best Ever".

Trotwood Madison had 7 or 8 D1 players a few years ago amd HHS beat them in the Herbie..HHS might of had one D1 kid..
