GURU mentioned the Ohio public schools and how well they do. Does anyone know if they have busing across their largest county? Do they still have neighborhood schools? Do they have Public Schools they where you have to apply like Manual and get selected? Do they have traditional program as Male and Butler where kids have a random draw to get in? In these cases you have kids who are brother/sister and go to different high schools. Is their boundaries as messed up as they are in Jefferson County? I have more but don't want to say stuff.

Don't they all. It is a great honor for Trinity to be in the top ten. Sounds like, if they live up to their potential, Trinity could be near the top at some point during the season.

Congrats to Trinity. If they were to go undefeated against their schedule such a lofty ranking is deserved. To sart in the top ten is nearly a must if one is to have a chance to finish number one.

The good news for the rest of the state is that in the past a team from Ky that was thought to be worthy of national consideration typicly started out in the 20 - 25 area. The next step would be to have two teams from Ky in thee same poll. Past polls have most often only considered one Ky team to be worthy. I think this has been a reflection of their views on football in our state, as places like Ohio often have two or more representatives in national polls. To see Trinity and another Ky school make the final top 25 would be huge for the state. Wonder how often that has happened in the past.

I'm not going to touch this public/private thing with a 10-foot pole. I will say that I have very clear opinion on it and it would surprise a few on this board coming from an "Ohio" guy who supports one of the most successful public school programs in the state.

Sure do. My understanding is that he's the press contact in the athletic department. It's not his sole function, but it's one of them.

Congrats to Trinity on the accolades.

 

Sad thing about national polls is that Trinity will need to run the table vs. a brutal schedule to be ranked as high in the final poll. One loss and they'll be sent packing in the poll.

If they are referring to Stats, it is not a paid full time position as many may assume. This was an interest of Stats while a student so he took it upon himself to start and carryout the role.

 

If they are not referring to Stats they are probably referring to the VP of Development who one of his many job responsibilities is communications outside of the school such as with the media.

Stats Sampson (Trinity 05) has been providing game notes and statistics to the media since he was a student at Trinity. I think it has always been a volunteer position. If he is on the staff in any paid capacity, I am unaware of it. That said, I wouldn't object if he was being paid something. It is a lot of work. As an example of what he puts out for EVERY game, the following is a link to his game notes for the Trinity - Male game in December. If you read his game notes and then listen to a broadcast of the game from the regional or national media you will know where the announcers got a lot of the information they use on the sir. Stats did their work for them.

Along with Football, he provides indepth stats for the basketball team also. Again, not an employee of Trinity, just an extremely dedicated alumnus.

I thought that the next line was more interesting. "It is a roster of players from all over the city who have been attracted like a magnet to the school's football program as well as its top-tier education." It points the way to how to match what Trinity has done. Start by building a top tier academic program and couple that with a very strong coaching staff, alumni support, supportive students and a supportive administration and the kids will come. It sounds a lot like what the folks in Ft Thomas have done.
