This is a non-factor, if a kid is a problem for the football team I am certain the coaching staff has the ability to suspend/exclude him from the football team so this argument doesn't hold water.

Then I am confused, what point are you making?

And why is that? I know Manual fans with a comparable depth of knowledge about their program who volunteer similarly. I don't know if the Highlands faithful volunteer, but there are tons of them with that depth of knowledge. Why is Stats considered a luxury? He's phenomenal in both breadth and depth of knowledge and dedication to his alma mater. But it's not like other schools couldn't possibly have someone step up to the plate.

I sometimes provide a media sheet for our home football games. I have a lot of knowledge of the history of my school. But I dont come anywhere close to 38 pages. It would take me 5-6 hours a day for about 4-5 days to produce a 38-page media kit. I'm in no way knocking the job Stats does. I think his notes are awesome. But something that detailed is a product that only five or fewer schools in the state produce. I would call it a luxury even though I think it's awesome and leaves me jealous because I simply don't have that kind of time.

Public schools have to take the kids from their district. It's not optional. So overcrowded schools like Ryle and Conner do not have the room to bring in a lot of outsiders even if they wanted to. They're already overcrowded. They can't tell the in-district kids no.

 

Private schools do not have that restraint. That will always be one advantage private schools have even over public schools that accept outsiders.

You've never heard me complain about the size of any school.

 

We agree that any school system has the choice of taking outsiders.

 

However, you cannot ignore the fact that Conner/Ryle/public school is limited in outsiders due to rules in place that will never change ie you live in the district you cannot be told you cannot go to the school in that district. A private school will never have that issue.

There is a difference between saying something is an advantage and saying it is Trinity's fault. The quality of instruction at Trinity is an advantage over many schools. One part of that quality of education is that every student/family at Trinity cares about their education. That's not true at schools with a resides area. It's much easier to get rid of a problem student (from the school, not just football) at Trinity. None of those things are problems with Trinity, just advantages for Trinity. The fact that Trinity has someone like Stats, and many others that donate their time in other ways, is an advantage for Trinity. Nothing wrong with Stats or Trinity, but still an advantage to have that kind of alumni support. Correct. Not sure how anyone could complain about T specifically. The arguments are usually against the system/KHSAA.
