Sadly, Matt Bohmer has passed after a tough battle with cancer. Some on here were great friends with him and their loss is very real and close. Others, like me, just knew him on here. I'm embarrassed to say that he and I got personal with each other over silly and trivial stuff and this is a cold, sharp smack in the face reminding me of what's important. Fortunately, once I realized the error in my ways I was able to "get right" with him. Let that be a lesson to many on here.

 

When I heard he passed tonight I found his Facebook page. He made a profound impact on many youngsters teaching in the Cincinnati Public School system. Their comments were touching. We should all be so fortunate to make such a difference. No clue how old Matt was. I'd guess 43 or so. I do know he leaves behind a beautiful family that many of us got to see at the Dixie/CCH basketball game in February.

 

Our loss on BGP pales in comparison to the loss felt by his family and close friends like Rob B.

I can't even begin to tell you how deeply saddened I am. I just got the text from Rob. I know his family had some time to prepare, but is there really any preparing to lose a husband, father and so much more? My prayers go out to his family and friends. I just hate it.

Was that his screen name on here as well? I hate to hear things like this. From what you've said his community and the BGP community have lost a good man. I hope that his family can find some peace in this terrible time for them. Fighting with cancer is something that I always hate for anyone to have to go through. I'm deeply saddened for his family.

This hit really close to home to be tonight as my wife has surgery to try and rid her of cancer tomorrow. I do know that we will bring it for him tomorrow in prayer while we pray for my wife, and with some help from God maybe a cure will be found for this dreaded disease.

Words can't explain how sad I am to get the text tonight from Rob about Matt. I knew at some point the time would come but still you never prepare yourself to hear this. I considered Matt my friend. I met him several years ago because of Rob and BGP.

 

My heart goes out to his wife, children, family, Rob and friends. I can't imagine the pain each of you feel. Prayers to each of you.

I had a summer institute with Matt at Murray State about 12 years ago that lasted two weeks and got to know him. He was a great guy.

I am just speechless and deeply saddened, Something like this puts things in perspective. May he R.I.P.. May God comfort the family and friends.

I really, really hate to hear this. I only knew Matt from 2 or 3 get-togethers before Bengals games and found him to be a truly, genuinely nice guy. An old softie, I'll shed a tear and say a prayer for him, his family and friends.

Wow, this is the 3rd member I can recall us losing, were all due to cancer?

Very sad indeed. My prayers go out to his family.

I met Matt through the Guru and have liked him every since.

I had included Matt in my night time prayer every since the Guru told me he had gotten sick.
