Prayers and angels to all that loved and knew him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Matt a few times through theguru, his best friend, and got to spend an evening with those guys and a couple of others at a Highlands-Lexington Catholic playoff game in 2005.

 

Most everyone on this site has been touched by cancer in some ways, and it's a disease that takes away too many people way too young. Matt, sadly, joins that legion of people that were taken away well before their time.

 

I got the same text from Rob and it saddens me, even now. It's been on my mind all night.

 

Matt, we'll miss you.

Never like to hear that a BGP family member has passed. My prayers are with his family. It really is a shame that we can't find a cure for cancer :irked:

I never met Matt, but feel like I know him somewhat. I didn't know him all that well as Wildcat, but got to know all about him when a friend asked me to pray for him. Reading all the praise and well wishes from his many friends and countless students, made it clear what a special guy he was. He obviously made a huge and positive impact here on this earth, before God called him to his eternal reward. He beat the odds in living as long as he did, and was such a great example of courage and dignity.

 

May God pour out His divine mercy upon Matt and lead him to his home in heaven. We pray also, that his family is blessed with comfort and peace during this painful time. And finally, we pray that the emptiness his family feels now, is soon filled with memories of the happy times they shared with him.

Matt was an awesome guy.

He was great at getting me going on certain topics ... just knowing that when I would drive by his house--he would wave with a big laugh.

For such a horrible disease to take someone in the prime of their life is just heartbreaking. I did not know Matt, but my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I first met Matt over 15 years ago as an assistant coach at Dixie. It was at the time he met his wife, Ms. Cornett, a teacher at Dixie. Who would've thought a group of high school students would have had a helping hand at kick starting their long, loving relationship?

Sad news, I hate to hear that he has lost his battle. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

 

I met him briefly a couple of times at state finals, etc., and he seemed like a great guy. I know he will be missed, evidenced by the comments posted.

 

Cancer is a terrible disease, and like someone said above, one that has touched each of us in some way. I pray for a cure.

So sorry in hearing about this, I ask the LORD to bless and comfort to his family and his friends, and to his brothers and sisters on this site. Sounds a like he was a very good person and I'm sad I didn't get to met him.
