June 11, 201115 yr Do these guys never learn how to bunt in the minors or anywhere else for that matter? If they absolutely needed a bunt to be put down could Stubbs or Bruce get one down? Stubbs in over 2000 PAs in the minors and majors has 10 sacrifice bunts. I'm sure that Bruce has less than that. What the heck are they teaching the young kids in our minor league systems?
June 11, 201115 yr And this one belongs to the Reds. Can't say enough about the game that Queto pitched, absolutely great outing. Even though his pitch count was up there I was questioning pulling him when he did, especially after the 7th inning that Queto had. I am glad that the bullpen came through, great pitching. JC change the spelling of his name?
June 11, 201115 yr Guys I'm starting to believe that this is a .500 team like Lance McAlister says. I hate it when he is right.
June 11, 201115 yr The offense has now scored 4 runs or less in 15 of 23 games. Lance hinted on his blog that possibly Jocketty is giving Renteria, Gomes, and Lewis extra chances because he signed them and doesn't want to admit theyre mistakes.
June 11, 201115 yr Did Dusty have Stubbs attempt to bunt Lewis over in the top of the 9th inning? Yes and he failed miserably against fastballs.

Time to start admitting or he'll be in Castellini's office real often. I would stick with Gomes for a little while because he has started to have better ABs but the others are giving you nothing.
June 11, 201115 yr Reds at SS are 27 out of 30 teams in terms of average. Fielding % is 22 out 30 teams. They are 27 out of 30 in errors. Edgar has 6 and Janish has 5 (and 1 at 3rd). I think it is safe to say this little experiment isn't working out. DFA Edgar and Janish should be playing 2 games a week at best. His supposedly great defense was to make up for his lack of offense.

It doesn't really matter which one you get rid of at this point but even though Edgar sucks in the field I would rather keep Edgar get rid of Pauly and Bring up Cozart...I'm not a big believer in veteran presence in the club house but I think Edgar could be good for a new guy like Cozart...I also think Edgar is more suited to play just a couple games a week, he would have a better chance of being productive...Janish can't be productive on an almost every day basis, I don't want him out there even 2 days out of the week if I don't have too...I mean both their numbers are similar on O and D so if it's me Edgar has earned the right to stay on the team sit in the Big League Dugout, enjoy the Big League Lifestyle and play 1 or 2 games a week...Edgar is on his last leg, this will be it for him keep him around and see if he can help the youngsters and possibly have some of that Postseason spark left in him...Janish has no value, not even one bit, Edgar has the value he has earned and that's enough for me...I really enjoyed his interview yesterday on real reds as well, I like me some Edgar as long as it means he is backing up COZART

June 11, 201115 yr Giants signed Bill Hall to Replace Freddy Sanchez who dislocated his shoulder...Billy kills the Reds no matter how he plays against everyone else, hopefully he doesn't suit up for the G's till the Reds are gone...Tejada looks like the old Tejada as well since the Reds came to town...

Renteria, on the other hand, would be hard-pressed to find a major-league job.

Renteria, on the other hand, would be hard-pressed to find a major-league job. I'm not quite sure another team is going to see him and his Golden Glove to be so valuable taking up a place on the 25 man...He has no value as a pinch hitter, no versatility really he looked terrible when he played third, not much in the speed dept...Most teams value more than just a glove and most teams that value gloves as defensive replacements already have them...Janish will never play for another Big League team other than the Reds...Another team picks him up but he goes to AAA and eventually is out of baseball...I have seen Edgar draw many key walks and have some clutch hits as well, he layed down a bunt single on Thurs I loved that...I'll keep Edgar, but wouldn't be against getting rid of both...

If Juan Castro can still hold down a major-league job with his anemic bat, Janish's future prospects are OK.
