Has Renteria ever played for him before? I'm an "actions speak louder than words" kind of guy ... the Reds may have said Janish was their starter, but the signing of Renteria was a sign they weren't totally sold on him.

In that he is a veteran presence in the clubhouse and on the field...Dusty loves these guys...And as far as the other post I have never claimed to be smarter than Jocketty, just that he is not always right just because he is GM of the Reds...
June 12, 201115 yr What Dusty and Walt both said, to be a BACKUP!! And he is a backup, albeit one with 100 at-bats by mid-June. It's a job-sharing deal. Janish is the regular, but he's not the everyday shortstop. There is a difference.
June 12, 201115 yr If the Reds were committed to Janish getting 500 or so at-bats, they wouldn't have brought in Renteria for that price. They were buying an insurance policy, plain and simple. So do you think he gets 500 ABs?
June 13, 201115 yr This game isn't over yet, but as of now they have 17 runs this series which seems decent. Problem is they've only scored above 3 once. We sure this offense is great? Saying that hopefully they rally and make it to 10 again tonight.
