June 12, 201115 yr They could have found some old utililty infielder (Juan Castro or the like) and brought them in at the minimum salary. Instead, they brought in Renteria at a $2.1 million price tag ... what does that tell you? What Dusty and Walt both said, to be a BACKUP!!
June 12, 201115 yr What Dusty and Walt both said, to be a BACKUP!!If the Reds were committed to Janish getting 500 or so at-bats, they wouldn't have brought in Renteria for that price. They were buying an insurance policy, plain and simple.
June 12, 201115 yr I haven't said anything about the Reds' ability to scout talent, and personally, I wouldn't want Janish as my starting shortstop. Coming into this season, however, he was the best option they had in the organization. Janish is an above-average glove at shortstop, whether or not you like it or care to admit it. And, for the last time ... if the Reds were totally committed to Janish, they wouldn't have brought in Cabrera and Renteria. How hard is it for you to understand that? You have though when you say if the Reds thought Cozart was ready he would be up...It tells me you put alot of faith in the Reds judgement and ability to see when someone is ready for the show, when really im not so sure they are good in that respect...

Edgar is dusty guy plain and simple....In addition they wanted to bring in a winner.and he was just coming off a ws mvp...Why would they want Castro, I thought they are one in the same? Edgar was supposed to be able to play third and second as well which they eventually decided Edgar wasnt comfortable playing third...

What's yours?

Then as bad as Janish is hitting why isn't Renteria getting more of an everyday chance? Being a veteran wouldn't you think he might get in a groove if given 4 or 5 games in a row?
June 12, 201115 yr Error by 2nd baseman stops perfect game of Liriano, but he still has not allowed a hit through 7 innings.
