Janish should be the starter over Renteria, because his defense is considerably better and Renteria isn't a very good hitter anymore. There is a big difference between saying "Janish is our starter" and being so confident in him that you don't bring in a veteran to back him up.

Coming into this season, however, he was the best option they had in the organization. Janish is an above-average glove at shortstop, whether or not you like it or care to admit it. And, for the last time ... if the Reds were totally committed to Janish, they wouldn't have brought in Cabrera and Renteria. How hard is it for you to understand that?
