June 8, 201115 yr How is bringing up Cozart, 5 guys and throwing in the towel? post# 105 lists 5 players that he would bring up immediately, and I believe the term "big shakeups" is in that post also. Maybe I just read it wrong.

If we get our pitching back, get into July and we are still floundering, then I would be open to bringing up Cozart and shaking things up/injecting some energy.
June 8, 201115 yr Right, but you want to bring 5 guys up and put them in the lineup, not 1. If that were to happen the Reds will basically be throwing in the towel for this season. No I want to have 2 guys put in the lineup for 2 guys that are giving no productio, Alonso in LF to split with Heisey and Cozart at SS.And I want 1 guy Hermida put on the bench for 1 guy Lewis that is doing nothing, Hermida is at least a power threat...And last I want Francisco on the team to spell Rolen which isn't to far fetched since he started the year with the Reds...Also Hermida was with the Reds before Lewis and didn't do anything but I still am more intrigued by his power of the bench than Lewis...So I am only bringing up Cozart and Alonso in all of this who weren't in the Reds plans yet this year...But I would still consider it a shakeup which is why I said that...Alonso moved.to left for this chance.because they knew they might need his bat but he was blocked.behind Votto...

We wouldn't be the first contending team ever to bring up our top prospects this early for guys that are struggling before it gets to late...Also Francisco was in the plans so bringing him back is not a big deal...And neither Lewis or Hermida were in the Reds plans to start the year, however both have been up and Hermida is leading aaa in BA at a. 360 clip so aaa or not he has done more.than Lewis...You see me mention 4 guys and say wow that's a lot of change but when you really think about it ^ not a huge deal...

Right on:thumb: People are getting caught up in the W's and L's and failing to realize our starting pitching has been on a nice run lately...I still can't get it thru in my mind that people think changing 2 positions is going to make the team any worse...I'm tired of the Offense has been good arguments, they score in bunches which makes it seam like they are fine, today for example they weren't fine and honestly Arroyo did his job...They can live with the production from Stubbs, Rolen, Phillips, the Catchers (of which Hanigan is struggling, Hernandez needs more PT I'm tired of the personal catchers for certain pitchers) and Bruce and Votto who have been great, but why not try to improve the other 2 spot in SS and LF that are really really weak...Also Bruce isn't going to win player of the month every month the rest of the year...You don't lose anymore games with Alonso and Cozart than you do with our LF platoon and SS platoon, no harm done you might even improve...And at the end of the year at least 2 of your Top Prospects are that much more experienced and ready for next year, while at the same time you didn't lose anything this year in terms of production...Good stats on the recent performances of the starting staff!!!

That is an era of close to 5. That puts them in 15th place in a 16 team league. If we are so accepting of this mediocrity why are bashing the offense of some of the players?

If you are going to disregard Wood's 8 run outing then you should throw out the 7 inning 1 run game by Volquez. The fact is 3 of those starts only satisfy the bare minimum criteria for a quality start--3 ER in 6. Since the league ERA this season is 3.78 is that really a good start? The pitching has been marginally improved. However, it, not the offense has been the problem.
