All the Birds were great but I've heard that Calvin was the best and it's very debatable that he is the greatest high school player of all time in Kentucky.

 

Also another player from Corbin that I would add is Jon Sizemore. I am usually bias for Corbin but I can honestly say that he is the most dominating all around player I've ever seen in High School. He was 6'2" 265 and played running back and linebacker. He was an unbelievable back although not one of the greatest. I will say this much, you'd be hard pressed to find a linebacker not named Micah Johnson that is better. Sizemore was literally a beast and would try to take your soul on every play. He wasn't a dirty player but he wanted you to know it was him that hit you.

Derek Smith could be the 3rd down TE. Jacobs was the state's 1st Mr. Football, Smith finished second in '98.

Tim Hampton he was on The 1991 GRC state championship team, probaly one of the most dominating running backs I have ever seen in highschool. He cold not be stopped he just ran over and around people.

I would consider Frank Minnifield. HE only has 6 pro bowls and recently just got inducted into the cleveland browns hall of fame.

I think Mike "The Missle" Minix should be in there too. From Paintsville.

^ Couch also played as an 8th grader and started his freshman year. If they had allowed for Brian to do so, he would have annihilated most of Couch's records....no worries there.

 

 

 

 

Couch was only 3-3 for 63 total yds as an 8th grader. Those stats were not even included in the national records that he broke. Both were great HS school QB's that only come around ever so often!!!

Very true! I am sure he didn't play his freshman year because of the talent that you guys have to choose from year in and year out. Not because he couldn't play the position as a freshman and be good. Who played Qb when he was a Freshman?

Jerry Reese NG for the 1982 Christian County 4A state champion. Jerry Reese man handle Dawson (Bryan Station) in the semi finials. He had 3 sacks, three tacles for losses & pick up a fumble and scored from 58 yards out. Also started on Kentucky 1984 team, the last team to beat UT. Christian County beat Bryan Station that year 28-0, who had three players play in the NFL.

How many players ended up in the league? I think that would be how you come up with a team.
