OSAMA IS DEAD!!!!!

Featured Replies

Maybe someone has posted this earlier and I apologize if I am restating the obvious, but has anyone noticed that on Fox news and other reports they are spelling Osama, Usama. I am now wondering if this is intentional because I just saw a news report were multiple reporters are confusing Osama's name with Obama's name.:idunno:

That is the official way that the US goverment spells it. So, for once Fox gets something right. :D

Look at the Most Wanted List.

Did it become the "official way" when Obama took office?:D

Nope, always been that way, I remember Rumsfeld just saying "UBL" several times. Although some accidently wrote Obama instead of Osama on Sunday night, including on this site :)
I have continually given credit to Bush administration for the groundwork they laid. Have I not on here? If so this is my official post to give credit to the entire government, both administrations and most importantly our military. I would give high praise to any President who resided over the assassination of OBL. I am happy for everyone who has been intricately involved in this process for the last 10 years. It is a victory for EVERYONE. Too bad it isn't treated as such.
I'm with you 100% on this, PP92. :thumb:
I'm no fan of Obama, but he has my support when he makes good decisions with the military as he did in this case. You are right, it was a great night. Sadly, the hate for Bush already came out early too to try to overshadow a historical event.

I would have poster earlier but I was out of town.

:thumb: Exactly right. I cannot stand the way Obama is running this counttry, as a matter of fact I think that he is trerribe BUT......I certainly am not slamming him for this. I don't care who is sitting in that seat when enough of our intel comes through to nail UBL. We (Americans) have wanted him dead for years and years, back to the early/mid 90's.

I have seen way more hate for Obama than I have for Bush.
:thumb:Not even remotely close.

As one of the Republican Congressmen (maybe the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee?) said yesterday, and I'm paraphrasing, "There are plenty of things we can disagree with the President about, but this isn't one of them."

:thumb: As I said, I don't care who is sitting in that office when the right intel comes through to nail UBL.

This President gets his fair share, but no way on Earth it is remotely close.

I know I don't, but as I said it's completely expected from you. Instead of focusing on the good of the mission, you'd rather drag the whole thing down with your hatred of Bush and turn a great achievement into a cheap political attack. As it was said earlier, only you....
Amen, you just said all that needs be.

We have been looking for Bin Laden longer than 9 years, 7 months, and 3 weeks. :D Pretty sure he was on the most wanted list before 9/11.
:thumb: As I said earlier, UBL has terrorized the U.S. since the 90's. Should anyone remember, Clinton had a chance to kill him around 98-99 and didn't do it. I am not getting into any political argument over a man that the entire world wanted dead finally meeting his maker and taking his well deserved spot in hell.

Just another thought and THE reason that I don't go into P-R anymore, jmo but a person can't read a thread enough to enjoy a discussion before that stuff starts. A couple of haters started the same thing over on this thread in thi forum.

Final statement on this subject: I am thrilled that the worlds #1 terrorist "insert everal word filter violatioln words here :D" is DEAD!

I'm having trouble keeping up.

I heard today that the White House said that OBL was unarmed.

I've also read that the goal was to take him alive.

Something is not adding up.

He goes from making some non christian commet regarding sexual activities to saying God wouldn't like some of the things people are saying about Osama. What an idiot. We should start a "stupid twitter post of the day by an athlete" thread

Rashard is taking a verbal beating on the Steelers foram that visit from time to time. Much deserved I say. Some people are calling for him to be cut, which I disagree with. If he want to say that stuff, it is his right to be an idiot...

Funny. You're lecturing me about "cheap political attacks?"

I don't hate Bush ... I was simply pointing out a fact. Again, you don't have to like it.

Trust me, I'm very happy that we finally got bin Laden. I'm with you on that one.

Well, from what I've read of late, they're saying Bin Laden was not personally armed. That does not mean that he wasn't in a room filled with armed guards. If SEALs entered a room with several gun-bearing hostiles and a clear shot on an unarmed Bin Laden, why risk letting him get away when shooting him will prevent him from ever ordering another attack? They could have easily gone into that situation with "take him alive" in mind, but tables can turn very quickly in situations like that. Think of the Battle of Mogadishu...everything was going as planned, and then suddenly a single Somali with a rocket propelled grenade and a lucky shot changed the ENTIRE situation.

Given that it was Osama bin Laden, I don't mind that we killed him instead of taking him into custody. I wouldn't say that about nearly anyone else, but given the circumstances of the raid, I'm all right with it.

Having never been in a fire fight let me ask this.

If I've got X number of guys in a room and some of them having guns but OBL doesn't why wouldn't I take out the guns first and THEN get OBL?

Again, the next time the Seal team asks me for advice will be the first so take this FWIW.

I think it was a seek and kill mission. I don't think it was ever the goal to bring him back alive.

Well, my thought would be this: Mission objective is to take Bin Laden out of the equation - dead or alive. You've got X number of guys in a room and some of the have guns, but Bin Laden doesn't. One shot takes Bin Laden out of the equation, but it will take X number of shots to take out the other guys in the room. Go for the fewest shots to achieve the mission objective.
