If Bogans, Magliore, Mohammed and Padgett were drafted I don't see why Liggins would not.

 

I can see questioning Padgett, but those other three were solid picks and are still in the league.

Liggins = Stacey Augmon I think that is the prototype that he fits.

Kind of ironic that the lockout is what actually may keep the Kentucky kids in this draft.

Not suprising they all declared. Knight I'd say is the only one I'm now 100% on saying is gone. As I stated in a thread about 2 months ago, Knight's play the last month of the season would dictate a lot on his status and while his game could use another season, his stock in the draft may never get any higher.

 

Jones declaring will give him time and more feedback about his stock, the lockout, and his personal preference, still maybe 50/50.

 

Liggins should declare if just to get exposure in front of scouts. I am of the mind he has the least guarantee of up front money and w/ an impending lockout could in the long term really lose if he stays in the draft but he at least should evaluate prospects

All this talk about them needing another year or that they could benefit from another year is a minor point with regards to the draft. No doubt they could benefit...any player would. Knight needs to get stronger and improve against physical defenders. Jones could work on his right hand as someone said, and he too could get stronger. But, the fact that never gets stated is that those guys can make those same improvements at the next level. Its not like leaving college is the end of their development. They have the potential and that is what the draft is primarily about. With Barnes, Sullinger and Jones remaining in school, it only boosts their stock in this draft. If they wait another year, they could conceivably improve as players and be drafted lower.

 

I'd love to see them stay, like every other UK fan, but IMO, there is little incentive for Knight and Jones to remain at UK with regards to draft position.

 

Liggins is different somewhat. Similarly, I don't see him improving his draft status by returning. But, I don't see him ever being anything more than a late second round pick. The fact that he's throwing his name in, combined with other information I've read regarding him, leads me to believe he is gone whether its to the NBA or elsewhere. He's going to be playing somewhere other than Lexington next season.

 

Its not a crushing blow to UK. They'll be fine. They'll field a deeper and more talented roster than they did this year even without those guys. And, from what Calipari currently has signed, the glaring need is a shooter at the 2-guard and Lamb's announcement ends that concern. With regards to team makeup, Lamb might have been the guy we most needed to stay.

Understood but if there's no chance whatsoever that he returns then why hasn't he hired an agent yet.

There is a chance he'll come back. A small one but a chance nonetheless. I agree with the others. His stock will never be higher and he is smart enough to know that. I guess we'll see how much a National Championship means to him.

I don't think Liggins is a given. I think ANY Junior player is dumb not to declare just to see where they're at. I think Miller should have. You get one time to declare and be able to take your name out, why not use it?

 

I think from a financial standpoint Knight and Jones should go. Their stock will be much lower next year, and even if its the same they'll make less money. I'm one of the biggest supporters of only go when you're ready, and I don't think either is ready to play a big role in the NBA but I could definitely see where it makes more sense for them to go this year.

Hopefully, this opens the door for Lacey. C'mon down...........
