April 21, 201115 yr I agree with most of this post. I don't think we can make the assumption that Barnes is coming back for academics though. Not saying he isn't, as I have no idea about the kid. I've never met him. I think some people just love the college scene (I would be one of those) and some are ready to get paid. I wish we (UK) had some that loved the college scene more than getting paid. I guess it reads that way but I didn't mean to imply he came back for academics. Barnes came back for a bunch of reasons. Academics was just part of it.

April 21, 201115 yr I never said he frowns upon his education. I am saying it isn't as much of a factor/important enough to him to keep him in school. Some folks on this board and not on this board make Brandon Knight out to be this 'education first' kind of person and to me that is a false belief. I never said he wasn't smart I just am not buying that he is overly concerned about his education because if he was he'd come back like Harrison Barnes did.:puke: Sure he is smart enough to go now but he is also smart enough to know that the NBA isn't going anywhere. I am not sure what you meant by some of this. Are you saying with your puke icon that Barnes staying in school made you sick, that some opinions were that Knight may have stayed bc of academics being important to him made you sick, both or something else entirely? I think that Barnes may have stayed in school bc of the uncertainty of an NBA lockout and what that may happen with that. Knight may have decded to go now bc with a couple of others stayed in school and that would raise his draft status even higher. I don't know, none of them called me and I am not very good at mind reading and is jmo. At any rate, I was just trying to joke around with the earlier post and say that no one really knew but the players themselves. I was not offended and wasn't trying to offend anyone.

Because I am a Duke fan it makes me sick to my stomach to applaud anything UNC related especially since it seemed he would end up at Duke but chose UNC. April 22, 201115 yr Good luck to all three of these players. I think the Cats will be fine as long as coach keeps recruiting the type of players he has and does nothing to get the school in trouble(like he did at the other places he was at). He can coach and he has shown he recruits well, better than most.
April 22, 201115 yr If they all do stay in depth could be an issue again next season, and again it looks like interior depth will be the main concern. Still though, going to be a talented bunch on the floor and as this year showed, if Calipari can get them streaking at the right time again next year they will make another run. If Hood, Poole, or Vargas can show up next year and get some minutes and contribute then this team will be in pretty good shape still. Especially Vargas, I mean if he can come in next year and add another post presence and grab a few boards maybe get a few put backs and play enough d to get the job done then your looking at a contender still. If Vargas can contribute from the 5 spot it will open up a lot of things because it would allow for Davis to be able to attack from the perimeter and get out of the post. All three stay in the draft you see possibly.... Teague Lamb Miller Gilchrist Davis Wiltjer, Vargas, Hood, Poole, (Trevor Lacey possibly) Polson, Beckham. I mean thats really a team that will need somebody like a Vargas or a Hood to step up and get quality minutes. However, you get one of the three back and its a different story, especially a guy like Jones. Teague Gilchrist Miller Jones Davis Lamb, Wiltjer,Hood, Poole, (Lacey), Polson, Beckham That right there would be an outstanding rotation. You have a guy you can bring in from the bench to contribute on the perimeter in Lamb and someone who is a contributor down low. Then getting to play guys like Vargas and Hood start to become more of a luxury instead of a necessity. That would be an extremely versatile lineup with almost everyone in the main rotation being able to play and guard multiple positions. Even if Liggins comes back and Jones stays, same can be applied. Liggins fought to bring a lot of lead by example the last couple of season and his effects just being in the lockeroom would help. He would still be able to allow the team to have more diversity, so if you can get either one of them back then its a lot more promising situation but good regardless.

I was using Barnes as an example is all. :thumb: No problem. I can certainly understand why you fell that way about UNC. I have the same type feelings, maybe worse for Louisville and Tennessee :lol:
