All respect Coach Knight but I went to my spring classes at UK and finished out strong good gpa even after declaring for draft.

I agree. The fans are the ones though that need to do their UK thing and make sure this is addressed. We all know how things like this take on a life of their own and a lie suddenly becomes fact in the minds of many. Knight's statement is clearly slanderous but neither the players or UK could pursue it because it would be too difficult to show damages. Thus the fans need to make sure Knight apologizes or receives the ridicule he should for making such slanderous comments.

True, but this has also been the story of Knight's life. His numerous personal flaws and comments have always been glossed over because he was a great basketball coach 15+ years ago. Now that he is out of the game his antics have been confined to 1 or 2 times a year. I have always viewed Knight as a bright guy and incredibly shrewd, just not a good person.

The worst thing about that is Coach K is his coaching prodigy, so Knight will get nearly as much attention as Coach K for it. They've already ran some spots about their relationship and all that.

 

No one can argue against his coaching ability. To win a championship with Steve Alford, Keith Smart, et al speaks for itself. But, he's a first class jerk. Can't argue that either. And, this latest comment is merely one more pebble on a mountain of evidence to support that statement. If you liked Bobby Knight before this, then you should still like him. Its nothing new.

I used to respect him a lot as well. Our generation didn't even get to see him when he was at his best, but with comments like this fans of college basketball (especially in the Commonwealth) will not remember Knight for the great things he could get his basketball teams to do. They'll remember him for being...well fill in the blank.

 

I'm glad to see players like Patterson and Cousins stick up for themselves. I'd like to see this catch some media attention on PTI or Around the Horn (didn't watch yesterday, so I didn't know if it did).
