Can anyone say that their program doesn't have this happening at some level? Coaches are paid to make decisions and they do that. It is bound to make some unhappy. Most of the players on CCH varsity bench would be starting in most programs around the 9th (imo) which makes it very tough on the parents, players and even the coaches. You got 32 minutes and 5 play at a time so you are bound to have some unhappy campers. Add a rough spell of games to that and you get "the email". It really is unfortunate. I look for the players to overcome this, I think we saw it against #1 Dixie in a close game with players high fiving and chest pumping. Go get em CCH.

In my opinion, yes. I didn't say they would be the top player but they are all pretty solid players.

If that is the case, should I only post in Campbell County threads since that is all that should concern me?? BGP allows for all to discuss all topics. This includes the subject e-mail that happened to hit my inbox only 33 minutes after it was sent. Sometimes you need to have a thick skin to be on here.

With all of this talent on the bench it makes you wonder why they are barely .500 in their region.

Never ceases to amaze me how Coach L gets treated there. I would kill for my son to play for a coach who has 30 plus years experience on the bench, has led two teams to the state tourney, one to a state final four, coached the Kentucky all star game, the MCDONALDS ALL AMERICAN GAME, spends his saturdays in the fall collecting tickets for football, is involved in the fundraising at the school, and has help raise over $100,000 with the Bluegrass Buckeye Classic. Another funny story a couple years ago when then place where the NKY boys basketball banquet host place went belly up, he organized the whole thing and had it in Cov Cath cafeteria on about a weeks notice, was done up real nice... That day they started the NKY Basketball Coaches ring of honor, giving out plaques to old coaches inducting them was very nice, guess who's idea that was... Mike Listerman. Go ahead try and run him out, the man has a few years left on the bench if he still wants to coach, and he will have zero trouble finding a job.

AMEN Observer. It is so easy to sit back and complain about coaches. Coach L is a great coach and an even greater person. He has respect for his players and for his peers. I would love for my son to play for him.

It is possible that this could have been sent by anyone, maybe it was the perfect time, in the writers eyes, to express their feelings and concerns, it doesn't have to be from a player who had a "discussion" with coach L, maybe a parent who's son isn't on the varsity level yet, maybe even an assistant coach, heck it may even be someone who is not even at CCH.

 

But, with over 500 views within 12 hrs, and over 1,000 views in 24 hrs, people are interested.

This is probably very close to the truth right here. If CovCath goes on and wins the Region then it will be dubbed "The Email" team. LOL. Its Pandas quirk, but I like it.

Sounds like somebody is embarrassed of their school???? This thread is just a discussion on the topic of Coach L and "The Email". Those envolved with Cov Cath are not the only ones who know of Coach L. He is from Campbell County and is well respected here as well. If you don't like the discussion you can always remove yourself from the topic.

As I was mentioning to someone today at a sports bar who asked about the email. EVERY coach has had parents who had issues with some things, not saying it was a parent or whoever, just trying to put it in perspective.

After finally having a couple of hours (:lol:) to read through the email, I am not sure what all the uproar is about. The assumed parent who wrote it was supportive of CCH, the team and even said let's put all things aside and get focused on winning this season. Yes, he/she did make some negative comments about Coach L but everyone has their opinion and the email was as much about finishing this season strong as it was bashing the Coach.

 

Bottom line for me after reading it, IMO it is a parent of an underclassman who is upset about playing time. When you go to a school like CCH, you have to face the fact that competition is very stiff and playing time will be hard to find. Only 6 or 7 guys are going to get a lot of PT and the talent pool at a CCH, Holmes, Boone, is such that you should be happy to make the team. If you are not a clear star and want PT your sophomore year, CCH and top level bigger schools are not the place to go. If you are not the star level player, you work hard and hope to get some PT by senior year. That's just the way it is at the top schools.

That made me laugh lol. But in all seriousness, Coach L is a top notch human being who would bend over backward for the well being of all his player/students. I can't think of a better role model for the young men walking the halls of Covington Catholic. It's obvious that whoever it was that had a problem handled it completly wrong. BTW, how many coaches in NKY put together winning seasons as consistantly as Coach L? I'd guess not many.
