What's most interesting is that it was only sent to the varsity basketball players parents currently on the CCH basketball team this year. Someone within that group is the one that sent it to the masses and how it was seen throughout NKY. Someone must have thought it was worthwhile for others outside the CCH basketball program to read it and respond accordingly. The person that wrote the email could not have expected that it would have been circulated like it was.

 

Just a small correction, but it was sent to a few more than just varsity parents. There is also no one of knowing who else the parent sent it to after sending the one to the parents and admin of the program as well. No one knows for sure how it ever got outside the small circle, but I agree that in this day and age, one would be foolish to believe it would not be distributed more widely.

I know who didn't write the email. It is unfortunate that one persons name continues to come up in Listerman's circle just because he is a very involved alumni of the school and happens to have a son on the team. There is a small group of people that know who wrote the email. I hope that the person that wrote the email comes forward so that those that didn't can stop having to answer questions from the school's administration, parents and people from other schools. There are issues within the basketball program that needs to be addressed but dirty laundry should not be aired publicly.

Apparently,if you are a good family man and a good parent, you get to keep your job without concern for the performance of the team....at least according to some posters. I know nothing of the internal developments or problems at CovCath. I do know 2 long time avid supporters, both in terms of financial support and game attendace at all CovCath sporting events ,who think Listerman is a terrible coach. They also like him personally.

As for myself, I believe his teams underachieve. When the game is on the line he screams and yells rather thyan remaining calm and bringing order. If you can't see that much, you need to find another sport...like bowling.

I realize that is only a part of the total package a coach brings to the table, but his late game antics, including some untimely technicals give cause to question those who throw the label "great coach" around as though the words have no meaning.

Of course, I am one of those old people who have only been watching HS basketball for 60 years.

As to the alleged shouting match between players and coach, it strikes me as odd that so many know so much about how a kid should behave without knowing what was said and by whom. A player has to accept criticism and realize that some of it may be unjust, but always offered for his own benefit. On the other hand, if it goes over the top, it would not expect a young man to take everything thrown at him. Maintaining self respect is important to young people too.

By the way, the 2 gentlemen I referred to have a combined 105 years watching HS basketball from the first game until the finals of the State Tournamnet.

In fairness, I do know that Caoch Shields of NKU supports Listerman and that speaks well as Ken knows basketball.

I've seen a handful of CCH games over the years but I can't recall any late-game Ts.

How has CCH done since running off Schrand and asking him to run their 8th grade league?

Consider the following results:

 

'00 - I don't remember who CCH lost to.

'01 - Lost on a poor inbounds pass in the region to Conner, who I think was top 2-3 team in the region. I think Highlands won region that year with Gino Guidugli & a young Ross Neltner.

 

'02 - Lost to Ryle with Doellman & Faegan in the regional finals, two extremely talented 6'6''+ big guys with guard skills. Ryle won region & had Warren Central on the ropes at Rupp in the game with the infamous halftime speech on ESPN.

 

'03 - Got absolutely drilled by Highlands in the region (30 or so points), who happened to have Mr. Basketball Ross Neltner & another 6'6'' talented big guy with guard skills, Kevin Gilles. St Henry won the region that year though.

 

In '04, CCH went undefeated in the 9th region & advanced to the state semifinals. They were a play or two away from advancing to the state finals. Lost to Warren Central, the eventual state champs.

 

'05 - CCH lost to Conner in regional semis, who lost to Holmes in regional finals. This was a fairly disappointing loss, from what I recall.

 

'06 - CCH won region & lost to Apollo at Rupp. Definitely could've beaten Apollo, but the "underachieving" comments are typically aimed at success within the region, so I digress...

 

'07 - Lost to Holmes by 12 in OT in Regional championship. Holmes went on to play (and lose) in the state semis

'08 - Lost to Holmes by 14 in regional championship. Holmes went on to play (and lose) in the state finals

'09 - Lost to Beechwood in the 1st round of district - no excuse for that, but it was one of Beechwood's best teams ever. Regardless, Holmes won the state championship in '09, so the chances of beating Holmes were slim.

'10 - Lost to Newport in the Regional semis. Newport went on to DRILL Holmes in the regional final by 26 points.

'11 - Lost to Ryle in OT.

Clyde - I can personally tell you that the person accused of writing the email absolutely had nothing to do with it. Some of you may know who wrote it but you are all very wrong. The person that wrote the email will come out after the season and the person being accused will be vindicated.
