December 21, 201015 yr Our friend, Birdsfan, has just called me from the hospital. I’m happy to report that the procedure went well he’s doing much better! They drained 620 cc of fluid from around his heart, that’s about 20 ounces of fluid. No wonder he was feeling so poorly! He’s feeling some pain and discomfort in his lungs, but he says that feels a little better now and will keep me updated on that as well as when he gets to go home. He sounded a bit groggy, but relieved. From the looks of it, after about 4 more hours or so in recovery, if all is still looking good and he’s feeling well, he’ll get to go home. He wanted me to thank all of you for the prayers and as you can see, they were answered. I’m sure he’ll be on here as soon as possible to give a more “in depth” update, but in the mean time I will pass along any information I get. Thanks to all for their prayers.
December 21, 201015 yr Author Good news, and thanks for passing the info along, RTS.:thumb:Glad to do it. I'm just happy all went well for him and he can hopefully enjoy Christmas breathing a bit easier.
December 21, 201015 yr Thank you to everyone who has so kindly supported and prayed for me during this time of trouble. I can't tell you how good it feels to have so much positive energy flowing toward you from so many people. I am a little sore, a little beat up, but generally speaking, I feel a heckuva lot better than I did when I went in this morning. I feel an incredible lightness, and renewed vigor. Then again, maybe I'm just still high on happy juice. ;-) Seriously though, I feel good and I feel very positive about the effect this will have on my daily life. This turned out to be a closer call than anyone ever expected. Last week, tests showed that my condition had worsened, but that my heart was still stable. The doctor said, the ECG, today, showed that the right ventricle was beginning to collapse. The Lord was really looking out for me, that this was discovered when it was, and that my doctor took swift action. As RTS (Thanks, my brother.) told you, they took 620 cc's of fluid from around my heart. That's actually about 21 oz. -- just shy of two cans of soft drink. My doctor was rather impressed, but said it wasn't a record or anything. :-) He did say that, had I gotten even a small fraction of that amount of fluid on my heart all at once, it would have easily killed me. But, because it came on so very slowly, my body adjusted to it. Now I have to adjust to an entirely new idea of what "normal" means. I'm still a little gun shy, but looking forward to testing out the "new engine." I can already tell that I'm less winded. I'm still having some issues with my pulse, and the doc wants me to keep monitoring that over the next few days. I have a really fast pulse, which he was hoping would slow down. But he thinks I might just be dehydrated from all the massive diuretics they've had me on. He cut that dose down 75% from now on. So that's it. I survived another little moment of tribulation, with your help, your prayers, and God's grace. I'll try to keep a low profile for a while, and not have to share anymore drama with you all. Thanks again. Edited December 21, 201015 yr by Birdsfan
December 22, 201015 yr So very, VERY happy that he discovered the issue and that you were able to be treated and resolve it! I guess the Lord works in mysterious ways, considering that finding the issue in the first place was the result of looking for another problem! Rest and don't try overdo it, what with your new found vigor and all.
