The Highlands-Boyle County 2011 Season Opener is Looking Great...!

Featured Replies

Here is who I can think of real quick off the top of my head.

Jared Lorenzen - UK

Derek Smith - UK

Rob Smith - UT

Austin Collinsworth - ND

Sean Sester - Purdue

I thought of Lorenzen and Smith but I think they were last on the '98 team weren't they?

I thought of:

Rob Smith

Gidugli (sp?)

Grover

Hamblin

Mike Mitchell

Collinsworth

Add Grubbs

Sester

And that's 8. I'm sure there might be a few more.

1. You don't have to live in Ft. Thomas to play in the FTJFL so that is a mute point.

2. Highlands is a public school that accepts tuition students for around $2k a year as I understand it. Much less than NCC for example. Which makes it much easier for a kid from Newport for example to go to HHS.

I've never understood why HHS fans on this board consistently deny the benefit of out of district students to their football program. Everyone else can see it and knows about it, why is it denied so hard? Heck be proud of it there is a reason for it.

Tuition at HHS is roughly in the same ballpark as NCC - around $5,000.

There were 2 Guidugli's that went to UC, so that makes at least 9

Guidugli counts for 2 -- Gino and Ben (both at UC)

Grover did go & play at Purdue

There was a big kid that played w/ Hamblen the year they beat Trinity in Mt. Sterling. Can't remember if he got a D1 scholly. Also, don't think Hamblen got a scholly. I think he may have walked on at UK briefly. Same thing with Jordan Nevels. Certainly a D1 player, but don't think he actually took any of the offers and went to UK and may have walked on briefly.

Scott Kuhn?

That may have been Scott Kuhnhein who played on a scholarship at Ohio State, as far as Hamblen and Nevels, they both certainly did have scholarships to UK, so they both can be added this list

What about Marty Moore? I don't remember if he got a scholarship to UK but had a good career in the NFL with a Super Bowl ring to prove it...along with Jared - that's 2 Bluebirds with SB rings! How many from Boyle?

Ben Scott UK

Jeff Reinstatler UC

Jeff Guidugli LA

Luke Stien

Clem Fennnell (was the Rudy of UK)

Rob Reynolds Uk/Murray (this

Marty Moore is from a different era. Go back and reread my originial question. :sssh:

As to Super Bowls, Jacob Tamme played on special teams in last years game. But that really wasn't my question.

Jacob Tamme played in it last year but I don't think we have any Super Bowl winners yet.

I have Tamme in my Fantasy Football League and didn't know he was from Boyle. That's pretty neat.

Luke Stein committed to Gardner Webb if my search is correct. That's not Division 1.

I believe Skop is from a different era I cited as well.

I can't place a Rob Reynolds for HHS or a time frame, can you give some details on that one?

Brandon Roller and Will Bardo had D1 offers .

Rob Reynolds was a senior on the 92 team. He recieved a ride to UK, didn't like it, and transfered to Murray where he played for Houston Nutt and had a nice career.

So that's why I couldn't find him in my search. Thanks Larry.
