Dixie is playing much better this time around but there are a lot of "if's" as far as their game plan goes in order to beat the Birds.

Highlands' defense has been soft in the middle all year, both against the run and the pass. Ryle exploited this somewhat but for whatever reason, other teams simply haven't realized this or tried to utilize it.

I'd expect Dale and co. to come out with a completely different game plan than in game 1. Expect to see Towles run the ball a lot more. AS soon as Dixie is sucked up and bites on the play-action, he'll hit Gold, Gall, or Sheehan over the top for a long TD.

Dixie's best chance at winning is simply to keep the ball out of Highlands' O hands as much as possible. I don't think Dixie has a good enough defense to stop the Birds enough to win this game.

In the end, there's a reason the Birds are 19 time state champions and simply don't lose at home in the playoffs...

Birds- 41

Colonels- 21

I have the utmost confidence in Weinrich. I think he is the best around....I couldn't help but sense a condescending tone to the latter statement. Not sure why? I'm fully confident in the Bluebird staff.

Nothing condescending intended towards you at all. You have to get rid of the complex you have. :D Surely you know by now, I'm not real subtle when I disagree with posts. You won't need to "sense" any thing; it will be very obvious. :thumb:

Birds will do on D what they need to do to best increase their chances of winning. If it's more blitzing than the first matchup, they'll blitz more. If it's sit back and let Pike stay in the pocket, which worked well in the first game, they'll do that. As I stated earlier, if Dixie doesn't make adjustments to what they do on offense, it won't surprise me if Brian sticks with what worked the first time. If they do make adjustments (like rolling Pike out a lot more and less pocket passes) then I think you'll see Brian do something different. Whatever he does, I'm confident it will be the right move.

OK smarty pants, you got Walter on that one. :D

I think we've had 4 maybe 5 home playoff losses in the last 20 years. The loss to LexCath in 05. The losses to CovCath in 01 and 97. The loss to Conner in 93 and am not sure about the loss to Montgomery County in 91. Given the number of home playoff games we've played in over the last 20 years, that's not many.

But if your point is that Highlands can be beaten at home in the playoffs, you are absolutely correct, and I for one, am quite nervous about this game against Dixie.

My point was that while Highlands has indeed lost at home in the playoffs before, it isn't very often and I don't think this year will be any different.

Ive got just the right medicine that might calm those nerves LN and its poured on the rocks. By the way Semper Fi and Happy Birthday to the corp.

Dixie may play better, but it will take a LOT for an upset. You never know, but my gut is saying Highlands by at least 20.

Thank you. It was an honor to serve in the Marines.

Game time , 7 or 7:30 ?

Per Beth at the bookstore today. Both schools agreed on 7:00.

7:00 gametime is what the Email I received today from the Fort Thomas Board of Education said.

What time will it be over? 8 or 830?

Never was a topic back in the days when all Friday night games started at 8:00 pm . Seems like a topic every week by the faithful who seem to show up either earlier or late.No consistency....

If Dixie wants any chance then they can't get behind. Once HHS gets the lead its over. Dixie has trouble keeping it together, as seen by the multiple leads they have blown in the 2nd half. If Pike turns the ball over early then the Dixie is in for a long night. If they do get behind they can't be yelling at the coach and questioning his play calls like we have seen. They have to keep there head up and just keep playing. This Highlands team will make mistakes. DHHS just has to capitalize on them. But this Dixie team just can't seem to keep their composure. Look for a semi-close 1st half then the Bluebirds to pull away, far away, in the 2nd.

I agree totally with your opinion. I must add that the above must be done for a FULL FOUR QUARTERS. Colonels cannot give up if they do fall behind. Got to be physically AND mentally tough to have a chance at the Birds. Hopefully the Colonels will battle to the end win or loose.

You can blame that on the NKY coaches that got together and decided to play the games at 7 and not 7:30. If a NKY team plays a down state team the games usually start at 7:30. The only problem is sometimes the coaches will meet and change the game time to 7. So your best bet is to just figure the extra 30 minutes, give or take.:thumb: Games are either 7 or 7:30.

You could just split the difference and arrive at 7:15. You might be 15 minutes early or 15 minutes late.:dancingpa
