As of right now. Highlands has the following games scheduled to the best of my knowledge. Boyle Cty, Harrison Cty, Pendleton Cty, Holmes, CovCath. All district musts pexcept for Boyle. Bell sent out a state wide email looking opponents and guess what Highlands was the very first team to reply and it was nah baby nah, pretty funny considering all the smack talked about Highlands down on Pine Mountain. Highlands approached SK the other nite at a coaches mtg and Markesberry tucked, turned and ran for the door when asked to play. My gut tells me if the Birds can get a home and home with Lou St. X and the dates work this game would happen. I doubt Ryle will up again so this leaves 4 maybe 5 openings. Unless Highlands schedules T&X, Elder,Cincy St X, Moeller and Colerain then some on here will continue to be Highlands Haters because they dont like losing to a team with a soft schedule. LOL. My understanding is that Ryle is on the schedule next year but only as a 1 game per year set. Hope this helps!!!!

If true about SK and Ryle continues to step up to play better competition, I believe there will very soon be a large gap between those two programs.

As to the streak, geez, let's get through this year first before we start thinking about 50!

Who cares about playing SK. After Lawerence leaves this year they will be a very average team anyway. Why don't the Birds try and schedule some Indiana teams? There are a lot of very good teams in the Indy area..

One thing's for sure... next year's schedule is going to to way, way different than recent HHS schedules, since it doesn't sound like too many NKY teams who are not in Highlands' district will be on the schedule. Given how many spots need to be filled, Highlands may not be able to be very "choosy" when it comes to signing contracts. I wouldn't be too surprised if some of HHS' opponents involve some fairly significant driving distances... we've gone to Hopkinsville, Pulaski Southwestern and Columbus, OH in the recent past. The Boyle County game at BC next year will involve a 2+ hour driving distance.

As I mentioned in another thread, if (and it's a big "if") Highlands and Boyle County win out this year (and right now they are are top-rated teams in their respective classes in the AP poll), then the HHS-BC game will match up the two teams with the longest active winning streaks in KY.

I dont know what will be the bigger deal. Highlands getting their 50th straight and why stop at 50 or the team that someday knocks them off. That team will be remembered for many yrs to come. The whole ESPN thingy would obviously be something the network would have to bring to Dale. Too bad the Birds dont know someone at ESPN that could set this thing up. LOL. Go Birds 20n10

Are you really sure about that?

Questions:

Who stopped the 42 game win streak of Danville? (3rd longest)

Who stopped the 47 game win streak of Boyle County? (2nd longest)

Who stopped the 50 game win streak of Trinity? (Longest)

I'm relying on your (or anyone else's) honor not to look it up somewhere. :thumb:

IF Highlands were to finish out the year undefeated, I say schedule cup cakes to get to 50. Then play Trinity to see if you can break the record. Worst case, you tied the record of the team that you're competing with for the most state titles.

East Central Usually fields a good team in the big school division in Indiana. They have a good fan base and are loacated in St. Leon. It is a lttle more than a hours drive , and would be a good game for HHS. If HHS is still looking to fill their schedule , this might help.

Let's see:

Danville lost to Prestonsburg

Boyle County lost to Danville

Trinity lost to Louisville Holy Cross

Also, Breathitt County's 42 game streak was ended by Lawrence County in the playoffs.

I would think that the Birds will have to get very creative to fill out the schedule. I would guess they end up playing at least one Cincy power or traveling considerable distances to fill 4 slots. I'm nearly positive that the Ryle game will become an annual contest. Coach Warner is in to playing games against tough competition. It seems like the rest of NKY that has in the past or could schedule Highlands (Beechwood, Boone, Campbell, Conner, Dixie, NC, SK, etc.) is avoiding contests vs. the Birds for obvious reasons. I actually believe that Coach Borchers at Cooper would be willing to schedule Highlands but that is just a guess. Maybe Dale should contact UK#1Fan to schedule a fantasy game with SK since Jeff is not willing to tangle with the Birds. After all, SK beat Highlands in 7 on 7 (in UK#1Fan's mind only but not on the field).

I guess Highlands isn't concerned about being national champions next year .... I think we all know that you aren't going to be a "national champion" just beating KY schools.

I wonder if the faithful is okay with that .....

That is not going to happen. You will see the toughest schedule they have had in a long long time. I trust my source.

Danville lost to Prestonsburg

Trinity lost to Louisville Holy Cross

I was really wanting Sweeperboy to answer that question since he posed the statement. :p

You don't count gchs because your a history nerd like me.

I love this idea. I would schedule Trinity as potential win #51. Trinity has to win to maintain a share of the record.

That is truly amazing and consider it very cool to be around a team that produces that many wins, especially if you are interested in high school football.

The streak is very impressive. :thumb:
