Highlands is tied with Randall Cobb's old school and will pass that NY team if they win out because they only have a max of 13 games in a season. Phoebus has only played 7 games so they can extend their number by 1 if they win out. They are the # 1 team in the state and they play the # 2 team this friday.

The West Rowan (NC) team plays a max of 16 games but they have already played 9 this year.

So if all teams win out it would read:

West Rowan- 46

Phoebus- 46

Highlands-43

Alcoa-43

Southwestern-42

Who will Highlands play next year? I heard a rumor (from an HHS guy) that they may soften their schedule a bit (or should I say "not schedule up") so that they can ensure x amount of wins. I think he may have said 50 straight.

I am sure that "HHS Guy" knows what Dale is doing....Who will and won't play HHS....Boyle and Cov Cath for sure!! Good luck!

I guess Highlands isn't concerned about being national champions next year .... I think we all know that you aren't going to be a "national champion" just beating KY schools.

I wonder if the faithful is okay with that .....

I'm sure I'll get hammered by the Bluebird faithful, but it was a serious question. HHS always plays a solid schedule. I was not insinuating anything else, just asking a question. Will they water down the schedule a bit to ensure a streak of 50 straight wins (or beyond)?

I realize that no HHS fan will answer this question affirmatively, which is why I asked which schools were on the schedule.

So your idea of "soften" the schedule by calling Bell County only to be turned down for 2011-2012 is hardly in my view as "soften". And yes, Highlands did call Bell County to schedule because they found them in the open list looking for games for 2011-2012. What else do you have!!!

I did answer the question....I know of Boyle and Cov Cath. Obviously, with the new alignment, they will see Holmes, Pendelton, etc.. It is likely that the schedule is not finalized, so who, besides Dale would know?? I have heard that SK, Boone, Dixie, Beechwood all turned HHS down. I have also heard that Anderson, OH was a possibility. No confirmation, from a reliable source, on any of those. Who is your team playing?

It will be interesting to see what the schedule looks like... Although I would like to hear the whole story on scheduling. Which teams were turned down, which teams were offered, etc.

Hey, if you call playing your district soft, then I don't know what to say. You know, HHS has to play those teams. Add Boyle and I thought Ryle for one, that would leave 4 games to schedule.

I don't know who would know, that is why I posed the question on BGP. It seems that you know who turned HHS down, so is it that unreasonable to suspect that you (or someone else) would know who HHS has on the schedule? Or is looking to add? If not you, there are plenty of other HHS posters who are close to the program & may have a pretty good idea.

As to who my team is playing, I have no idea. Obviously they'll play the games within their district. Other than that, I am admittedly out of touch with the CCH football powers.

Not sure how you came up with me saying that the district was soft, but I will chalk that up to an HHS fan misinterpreting a post by a CCH fan (hey, it's not the 1st time that it's happened on BGP) & move on to the substantive part of the thread. Thanks for answering the question. If Boyle & Ryle are on the schedule, it sounds like a great start to an out-of-district schedule.

With that said, Highlands has already proved that they can dominate everyone in Kentucky outside of the Louisville area. My question pertained more to Highlands scheduling a Louisville school (X, Trinity, Male, etc.) or a Cincy School (La Salle, Colerain, X, etc.) . Nonetheless, Boyle & Ryle seem like a great start around KY and do not give any indication that HHS is trying to water down their schedule to achieve the streak.

How does the radio guy say it? Ok, wait. I think I have it. "Easy there Francis"! HAHAHAHAHA!!! That one from before went right over your head i guess.

That is great for KY HS football that Highlands is getting this national exposure. Hopefully, it helps recruit football players into our colleges. That is great for KY!

As of right now. Highlands has the following games scheduled to the best of my knowledge. Boyle Cty, Harrison Cty, Pendleton Cty, Holmes, CovCath. All district musts except for Boyle. Bell sent out a state wide email looking opponents and guess what Highlands was the very first team to reply and it was nah baby nah, pretty funny considering all the smack talked about Highlands down on Pine Mountain. Highlands approached SK the other nite at a coaches mtg and Markesberry tucked, turned and ran for the door when asked to play. My gut tells me if the Birds can get a home and home with Lou St. X and the dates work this game would happen. I doubt Ryle will up again so this leaves 4 maybe 5 openings. Unless Highlands schedules T&X, Elder,Cincy St X, Moeller and Colerain then some on here will continue to be Highlands Haters because they dont like losing to a team with a soft schedule. LOL. Thanks for the response, Sweeperboy. Sounds like Highlands will have some flexibility in their schedule. I'd love to see them play one of the big boys next season to get their 50th straight win. It'd be awesome watching them play X or Elder or someone on ESPN for their 50th straight. It'd bring a lot of attention to HHS & the rest of KY football. But then again, I couldn't care less if they win 50 straight or not.

I dont know what will be the bigger deal. Highlands getting their 50th straight and why stop at 50 or the team that someday knocks them off. That team will be remembered for many yrs to come. The whole ESPN thingy would obviously be something the network would have to bring to Dale. Too bad the Birds dont know someone at ESPN that could set this thing up. LOL. Go Birds 20n10
