Does BGP have anybody who can come down here to cover the trophy presentation to the Cards this week?

It would be a bigger shocker to me if Mayfield did not win 1A than if Highlands did not win 5A. Great 1A team no doubt.

Mayfield beat up almost all the same opp. last year. You herd some crying about how they should be #1 last year.. But in the end Mayfield got beat bad in the championship game by LCA. So I guess what I'm trying to say is. Lets let the season unfold and see what happens. No crying about muddy fields, rain, snow ect. Every player has to play under the same conditions. So all is fair. No excuses. When it comes to LCA getting blown out tonight. I would say if Mayfield, Beechwood ect was missing nine starters and playing Lexington Cath. the same thing would have happened. Some of the scores may have been not so bad and some worse. Think about what they were missing before giving up or saying they just ain't that good. Take nine starters off your team!! IMO which isn't much. I feel Mayfield is the best. But with injuries, luck (good or bad) things happen. Lot of good teams out their!

LCA was ranked #1 for the entire season and into the playoffs last year. Apples and oranges.

Mayfield ... 2010 State Champs!

From what all I have heard I would say that Mayfield is the best football team in 1A and should walk away with the state title. I wouldn't count out a full strength and healthy LCA team. Fairview is also doing alot of talking.

What it boils down to is that if a team doesn't "bring it" every night in the playoffs then anyone can beat you. A team be it LCA. Mayfield, Beechwood,Hazard or whoever doesn't have to be the best all season, they just have to be the best team for around 3hrs. on each night of each playoff game no matter who the opponet is. "On any given night......"

The 97 team could have probably ... but this Mayfield team is easily in the top 2 Class A teams of all time.

 

Without a doubt it could have happened on Friday night, but no way BW would demoralized them...nothing to gain.

Could it be because of the schedule they have been handed this year? Don't look like much is on the other side of the ball each week. (If you look at the records and rankings of the schools) Looks like a lot of other teams have a lot tougher schedules. ie. Holy Cross, Beechwood ect.

Is the word "humble" anywhere in the vocabulary? I thought I couldn't dislike any team more than Highlands...now, Mayfield fans are making me second guess my votes for Kevin Skinner to win America's Got Talent

I wouldn't discribe the Scribe as a Mayfield fan or even Quickslick. Both are gushing about Mayfield and while I agree that Mayfield may have the best team in 1A , I don't think its necessarily a slam dunk that we will win the 1A title.

The team that is running under the radar right now is Louisville Holy Cross. Based on their record so far, they are looking strong. This week's game versus Cov. Holy Cross will be a good challenge for them and give us some more insight into how strong they are. Mayfield more than likely will have to travel to LHC for an early round playoff game. So all eyes in 1A should be on this "Holy Cross" battle Friday.

I remember sitting in the stands at Newport stadium a few years ago when Beechwood beat Brossart 76-6 (heck the score was 70-0 at halftime).

I will ask on this post, is there any informations that would lead me to belive THIS YEARS team is the favorite hands down? Opponents minus Paducah Tillman are 6-22, not one has winning record?
