Is the word "humble" anywhere in the vocabulary? I thought I couldn't dislike any team more than Highlands...now, Mayfield fans are making me second guess my votes for Kevin Skinner to win America's Got Talent

Is the word "misinterpreted" anywhere in the vocabulary?

 

I'm not a Mayfield fan. I'm just answering the question asked in the thread. I think some people need to take a few deep breaths and count to 10.

I remember sitting in the stands at Newport stadium a few years ago when Beechwood beat Brossart 76-6 (heck the score was 70-0 at halftime).

Interesting reading in this thread from that game. It is for discussion in another thread, but how far the Mustangs have come since that first year in 2007. What a credit to the school, their football program and especially to the players who have put in the effort to build that program.

Does Beechwood , HC , Hazard ,LCA have a win against a top flight team? The victory against PT, who was bigger and had more team speed than us, showed me this team will be a very very tough out come playoff time. Mayfield also handled a very good Milan TN team in a scrimmage.

The team that is running under the radar right now is Louisville Holy Cross. Based on their record so far, they are looking strong. This week's game versus Cov. Holy Cross will be a good challenge for them and give us some more insight into how strong they are. Mayfield more than likely will have to travel to LHC for an early round playoff game. So all eyes in 1A should be on this "Holy Cross" battle Friday.

 

 

 

 

I will reserve judgment until the Paducah Tilghman game at the end of the regular season. I know Mayfield and Crittenden Co. have had good success against this team in the past, even while Holy Cross has been the number 1 seed in their district.

Beechwood beat Cov. Holy Cross who is #10 in 2A. But, honestly, I wouldn't call that a top flight win. Upcoming games include district opponent Brossart that is currently undefeated, but I don't think that most would consider them a "top flight" opponent. The only other opportunity for a "top flight" type win for Beechwood will be the last game of the season versus Newport Central Catholic.

Quick slick You are delusional! Mayfied is very good football team but not near as good as you seem to think. They are not as explosive as last year but very solid on defense! There are 3 or 4 teams that will have a say on who wins this title before all is said and done, and Mayfield may be one of them but way to early to just pen them in! They will have to go on the road for a couple of realy hard playoff games just to get to the championship, not saying they can't do it but this is hard division to win!

How does anyone crown anyone State Champ at midseason???? Seems silly to even disucss? Potentially the best team in Class A may be Hazard at this point, they would have beat Mayfield last year almost as easily as LCA did.

Are you planning to come to Mayfield for the trophy presentation? If so you may want to call the school as spots are limited and it will be a coat and tie affair

I hope Hazard and Mayfield do get the chance to meet in the finals. Hazard is supposedely better this year, so, should make for a great final.

Mayfield may be considered the favorite, but the road to Bowling Green includes likely stops at Louisville Holy Cross and Beechwood ... let's hold off on the crazy stuff.

I'm bringing this thread back in honor of my good buddy quickslick who had the foresight to declare the crown ours way back in september. Now i dont know if we are the best in the history of 1A ball as quickslick liked to say in his sacaristic way but we can at least claim 2010.
