Come on ... Beechwood never beat anyone like that.

The 97 team could have probably ... but this Mayfield team is easily in the top 2 Class A teams of all time.

 

Mayfield gave up 6 points to a team dressing 13 players? What happened?

 

Seriously, Beechwood could have put up a score similar to that tonight but it will never happen.

 

Mayfield is the big favorite this year just like LCA was last year. It will be an upset if they don't win it.

Saw them on tape and they are HUGE. Not sure they have enough weapons to make it all the way but I think they are solid and great coaching.

 

And if size matters they have a few 300-plus guys that can move.

I doubt that they are fighting words .. because there are a total of 4 people from Beechwood who post here.

I would be willing to bet a Mayfield avatar that I could find a post that YOU made that alluded to what I said ........

 

What I will say is the the 91 Beechwood team and the 97 Beechwood teams are in that dicussion.

Pikeville has more than a few teams that fit the discussion as well.

Middlesboro 98 also could lay claim to being one of the best.

 

I just think that Mayfield is spectacular right now. For real .. 75 to 6? Even if the other team did only have 13 players ...... that is a LOT of points.

I keep thinking that while Mayfield is obviously the Class 1A, they will have to go to Louisville Holy Cross in the regional final and either Beechwood or Frankfort in the state semifinals. Certainly the Cards are the favorite but the draw doesn't really do them any favors this year.

Tipped pass early in the 1st went through the Fulton receiver's hands and landed as a "look what I found" catch to another Pilot receiver 5 yards down the field. From there he took it to the house. Interesting watching Brossart's new program getting beat up on several threads for scheduling little known state-wide programs before district play, and watching a powerhouse like Mayfield getting lauded for slaughtering a team with 13 players?? I don't think Beechwood ever even played a team that arrived in a single utility van??

I think this is the best Mayfield team I've seen in at least the last 15 years. I personally think they are the best team in 1A, 2A, and 3A right now. If they don't win the state title, it's because someone can match their size and speed, which I cant see in 1A this year.

It is a legit question. Besides, as Emmitt Smith would say, the LCA Bandwagon got blowed up tonight.

I don't know if Mayfield is getting "lauded"? Mayfield didnt run the score up, I just dont think it could be helped. We know it was not a big accomplishment.

Mayfield beat up almost all the same opp. last year. You herd some crying about how they should be #1 last year.. But in the end Mayfield got beat bad in the championship game by LCA. So I guess what I'm trying to say is. Lets let the season unfold and see what happens. No crying about muddy fields, rain, snow ect. Every player has to play under the same conditions. So all is fair. No excuses. When it comes to LCA getting blown out tonight. I would say if Mayfield, Beechwood ect was missing nine starters and playing Lexington Cath. the same thing would have happened. Some of the scores may have been not so bad and some worse. Think about what they were missing before giving up or saying they just ain't that good. Take nine starters off your team!! IMO which isn't much. I feel Mayfield is the best. But with injuries, luck (good or bad) things happen. Lot of good teams out their!
