Here we go. That's good stuff right there. Speaking of the above mentioned establishment, why isn't there a "above mentioned establishment" play of the game for football like there was for baseball. Or one of those other "workplace" plays of the game? Or is there? I don't follow CCH very close so maybe I'm missing it.:D

Look 2hump, I can use it too.

Because it's football and my love is baseball.

Here's a comment from someone who knows very little about football and even less about CovCath...

Perhaps CovCath ought to dial down the strength of schedule a bit. I was reading in the thread about Lloyd's program where someone suggested they stop playing schools that are a lot bigger than they are and focus on schools more their size. Maybe CovCath could schedule fewer Louisville St. X's, Elder's, La Salle's, Moeller's, Columbus teams, etc. and replace them with games against opponents more their size. I have heard from several people that the talent at CCH has been down somewhat over the past few yeares... if this is true it seems the schedule difficulty should be adjusted accordingly.

I have thought the same thing for a couple of years. Considering Highlands is on the schedule every year (at least once) it might make sense to eliminate at least one of the superpower big schools from the schedule. The GCL is just across the river. Traveling to Louisville and in years past Columbus to play powerhouse schools is a bit much.

One of things I have always admired about Cov Cath Football is their willingness to play anyone anytime anywhere. No doubt if they did selective scheduling their W-L would be much better. Personally, I would rather be 5-5 against one of the toughest schedules in the State year in and year out, than 10-0 against inferior opponents. JMO

New Cath, Scott, Highlands, Dixie, and Lou St. X. I see no reason why Cov Cath can’t win three of these if they show up ready to play football. They’ve shown that they have the ability to play solid football when they aren’t busy collecting penalties. Still, they are also a young team and they are easily stunned into complacency by big plays and blown chances. They have the ability to have three more convincing victories in the regular season, but it depends on whether or not they decide that that is what they are going to do.

As for whether or not they’re “any better off than they were two years ago”, I still stand by my opinion that they are. I say that they are better off than they were 5 years ago. The last two coaches were not what we were looking for at Cov Cath. I’m glad we won another state championship under him, but Rodenberg was using Cov Cath as a stepping stone towards a better job. He had no interest in teaching, he ran off students, athletes, and even families who didn’t fit into “his program”, and he was not interested in becoming part of our community. Brossart, in my opinion, was interested in Cov Cath on the long term, but he a) was not readily accepted by much of the Cov Cath community due to the bad taste left in the mouths of much of the Colonel family, and b) wanted to change too much of the program too quickly to suit himself. It was great that he wanted to make the program his, but Cov Cath being the way it is, coming in trying to change things up as quickly as he did was a very effective way to get himself placed in some very intense scrutiny very quickly – as if being the head coach of Cov Cath’s football team wasn’t already intense scrutiny enough.

Fact is, Dave Wirth is welcomed and accepted by the Cov Cath community for a variety of reasons, and most of those connected to Cov Cath see him as a coach pushing hard to right the ship, and many of the obstacles pushing back against him involve certain repercussions from 4 years of coaches who effectively pushed students, athletes and even families who may have otherwise been a great contribution to Cov Cath.

Well , Blue Colonels, will you win any more games? Is it looking like the Guru asked a good question?

I predict their next win will come in the first round of the playoffs.

I think it will be very hard for CCH to beat either Highlands or St. X, so that leaves Dixie. I guess DH will be the favorite, but I think it will be a good game. Also, I have heard DH shoots itself in the foot a lot with costly turnovers... perhaps they commit several of these against CCH and CovCath pulls out the win.

Based on what I've seen of CovCath and Dixie, I'd have to agree that Dixie should be the favorite in that game. Depending of course on injuries incurred this week. If both Dixie and CovCath are at full strength and Dixie doesn't make a lot of mistakes and have several turnovers, Dixie should win the game. Then again, we are talking about 16, 17 and 18 year old kids, so one never knows what is going to happen in a football game. As the Bungals showed yesterday, the better team doesn't always win.

Completely agree!

The problem is your team has no chance of winning those games. Your team gets beat up and the players and parents start pointing fingers. You make it to the playoffs and get beat in the 2nd or 3rd round. Did this really help your team? I don't think so..CovCath needs to play teams they can compete with. Trying to play GCL and the Louisville Big 2 teams is a losing battle for the Blue Boys. JMO
