That's because he was there last year. Right?

I just covered CC this past week against Cooper and don't recall him standing out.

 

Geiman was the receiver/athlete that impressed me the most.

Glad to see someone give my boy Spencer Brown some love. Even if it is someone from our own camp.

Quick, athletic, shields defenders well with his body and catches the football.

WHile he doesn't have the exposure that the others on here have, I honestly don't think he'd disgrace himself playing WR for anybody up here.

Spencer Brown is a great all around player. Awesome athlete and a great guy to have on your team!

After watching the Covcath vs Dixie game, I am again convinced that Connelly if not the best is definitely top 2 in NKY. I haven't seen enough of the young man from Holmes Mr. Peterson, but I have seen a lot of the top ones listed.

 

The only team that has kept Connelly in check is Covcath themselves. In every game they have attempted to throw to him 10 or more times he has been dominate.

 

I felt bad for the Dixie corners who were left to guard him 1 on 1, they just couldn't handle is athleticism.

I don't know who the best is because I haven't seen Holmes or Highlands play and apparently Holmes has a real stud, and well Highlands always has atleast one or two great offensive players complimented by a great team.

 

I will say that Winkler for SK is SOLID. I honestly had to look at SK's roster to make sure he was #35 because I didn't know for certain. The kid just doesn't drop balls and honestly make some really good moves after the catch as well, there have been a few plays that I've seen that I thought Lawrence made a poor decision throwing short to Winkler, and then he get's 10 more yards after the catch and I understand why he has so much faith in his receiver.

 

I will say that Campbell County has some good receivers, but they also have a very accurate QB. Ryle also had a player that was able to pull off a few tough catches, not gonna lie all I've seen is SK's opposition.

No doubt Christian is having a great Senior season. He has been the perfect compliment to Cubby.

The most under rated receiver in N. Ky. is without a doubt the Yates kid at Ludlow. He is a player. The only receiver I have seen this year that is better is Connelly. I have not seen Peterson. Yates is very good.

Not asking for stats though. It is clear that it's Peterson, Connelly, and then i would say Jasper, Winkler, and at least one of the Highlands guys, they are a very good group. No disrepect intended :thumb:

Congrats to Daniel Gold, WR, Highlands MVP! Maybe some DI universities will now wake up and give him the credit he is due, but I doubt it. Not one has recruited him. And I will add news reporter polls and coaches polls. A lot of players were instrumental in Highlands success this past year. Gold was one of them that made key play after play, after play. Watch some highlight tapes and watch what he did against DBs including those that were given offers by Kentucky. Watch the catch he made in the state championship game against #8. Maybe some college coach will have a membership to this site and find this diamond in the rough! Congrats to Gold and continued success in playing college ball! You are a winner.

Daniel Gold was a very nice high school receiver that got the most out of his abilities, but to say that he is a D-1 receiver is really stretching things. If Daniel Gold wants to continue playing in college he is going to have to pay his way. He would be good at the Division III level and/or NAIA. Simply not big enough or fast enough to play at the Division I level. Congrats to Daniel for the great honor of being named MVP in the machine that is known as Highlands football.

You don't become MVP of Highlands by being an average athlete.

 

The little man, not fast enough theory doesn't work for Gold. Here's the stats on Wes Welker: 5'9", 185 lbs, 4.65 40.

 

This will be this Bluebird fans last post on Gold as we move on to next year. If you look at athletes on recruiting websites, Gold is bigger and faster than many. Also, there is a thing called vertical jump for a WR. For vertical jump, begin with what he did against #8 in the state championship game. Not only that, but he has great hands, great speed in tucking the ball after the catch, great football knowledge after the catch, great footwork and is an outstanding blocker. Gold had 800+ receiving yards this past season. He missed two or three games. He sat out 3 quarters of the Beechwood game due to the score. Zero catches against Withrow due to game strategy. He could have had hundreds of yards against Woodford County. With ifs and buts he was at least a 1500+ total yards receiver this year. Again, there wasn't a DB that could contain him and some were the best in the state. Correct me if I am wrong. I've seen several players with lesser talent than Gold, burn these great recruits at college camps.

 

Gold played on a team that won four consecutive state championships. He was a starter for 3 years. He played on a team that is tied for winning the most state championships in Kentucky. He played for one of the top five winningest football programs in the country. His career record is 58-2 and in one of the loses he ran back the opening kickoff for a TD.

And he was MVP this year!
