I don't understand the disdain for Lebron. He basically held a press conference to announce where he was playing. While doing so, he sold advertising and donated that money to a charity.

My only problem with him is that he did not let the other teams know that he was going to Miami. He said that he had told Miami, but had not told his other suitors before the press conference. I understand that he didn't want the news to leak, but I think the professional / proper thing to do is tell them thanks, but no thanks beforehand. You don't have to worry about a leak if you don't tell them where you're actually going to play.

The NBA will follow MLB in that the gap between the haves and have nots will grow. A few teams will have all the great players, while others will fill their rosters with what is left. Every now and then a small market team will do well, but like the Yankees in baseball, the big markets will dominate.

No, the 2 leagues will be nothing alike. The MLB is the way that it is because it lacks a salary cap. The NBA has one in place, which will prevent the big market NBA teams from dominating the rest of the league (in terms of salary, at least).

Some of you guys are comical, really good for a nice laugh. :thumb:

Just because Lebron can't win with Mo Williams, Anderson Varejao, 34 year old Antwan Jamison, and Delonte West, he sucks and can't be the man and be the hero and get a ring. Even though he made a Finals appearance almost single handedly with Eric Snow and like said type players. Mark it down, the Cavs team as is equals a lottery team next year and you put Kobe, anyone one it, they would not achieve no where near the success they have had with Lebron there. But all because he is tired of Gilbert surrounding him with average players and actually wanted to go somewhere with other talent he sucks and cant do it on his own. You guys are great. Its perfectly acceptable for all other players to have a good team around them, but lord forbid Lebron actually play with someone that can make an All-Star game. I mean its not like those three are teaming up with Dwight Howard and Deron Williams. The rest of the roster will more than likely be filled with Ronny Turiaf specials, what makes that a cake walk to a championship? This will still be a challenge, but will be a fun ride with three great players.

You guys stay bitter all you wan't the only reason for that is jealousy or sour grapes. So continue to hate, I will continue to laugh while other grown men act this way and use those kind of excuses as to why.

As I have been and as I certainly will be next year (Lord Willing),........... I AM A WITNESS!

Whew! I finally finished reading all of the posts. I thought the NBA was a business? All of this hostility towards him is unbelievable. If the Cavs could have traded Lebron and got something of value for him they would have. The only reason they didn't is because they would have been vilified by the fans.

It's a business. Many many athletes have found out they were traded or released through media outlets. LeBron didn't owe anyone anything. Especially the owners.

LeBron gave his seal of approval to every player that came through.(Ben Wallace, Shaq, Mo Williams, Jamison, re-sign Daniel Gibson, Big Z and Varejao). His fingers were on every deal that was made to try to make Cleveland better. Gilbert did everything LeBron asked of him so in that respect Cleveland's failures are partly LeBron's fault at the very least.

If I were in Lebrons position the first person I wouldve called once I made my official decision was Gilbert to let him know where I was intending to play basketball. After 7 years with a program you can at least shoot them a phone call.

Kobe doesn't have to prove anything. He is a 5 Time World Champion who will be playing for a 3Peat without the SuperFriends.

Definitely LeBron has culpability for some of the players brought in. That says to me he'd be a poor GM because with each acquisition it was clear they weren't the players they needed. The guys they re-signed, that's fine. But the people they acquired, bad moves.

Chris Broussard has been dead on with this whole situation.

Actually, Stephen A. Smith called it and ESPN did everything they could to discount it until the end. IMO ESPN knew all along and floated different stories to add doubt and viewership to Lebron's hour long special. The only good thing was the money that the Boys and Girls Club of America received.

I too am a witness and I like the fact that 3 of the games biggest stars can put aside egos, money, & stats and try to become something bigger. I never heard anyone complain that Magic, Kareem, & Worthy were bad for the NBA, or that they did not "EARN" their titles. I thought when Lebron was in Clevland he was the best basketball player in the world and now that he is in South Beach I feel the same way. It did not hurt Magic's legacy that he played with other superstars.

If people don't understand why LBJ wouldn't want to play for an idiot owner they should now. Good luck convincing other free agents to ever play for you now. Does he not know all the players talk? Stay classy Cleveland. Gilbert is a guy who made his fortune on mortgages and check cashing shops. Now he's in the Ohio casino business. He makes his money almost exclusively on the poor people of Ohio. He's mad b/c LBJ left as a free agent and it buried the value of his club. If Gilbert was serious about keeping LBJ forever he would have made better hires than Danny Ferry (rookie GM) and Mike Brown (rookie coach).
