You're assuming he's being recruited strictly as a QB.

I think there will be several VERY good Q.B's in NKY next year. I wish them all good luck and good health. I also think there are a lot of people on here who should think, would they want someone talking about there son, the way they are talking about some of these young men.

You should see Patrick now, he has been putting on size and from what I understand working with Fitness guru Brian Wiefering. He has picked up atleast 25 to 30 lbs since hoops season. Patrick is supposed to get to 6'7 or 6'8 from what I am hearing and if that happens it might make the QB a little difficult to play but lets hope he doesnt hit that height until the final month of his SR football season.

 

I was just curious, why would he have trouble playing quarterback at 6'8. I would think it would make it easier to see over the line.

I guess the old adage if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

 

The problem I have with some of the talk on these threads is after reading them-you would think some of these guys are ready for the NFL (see UKfan36posts in other threads). I think people have to keep things in check from a realty perspective. So many kids and their AAU exploits, and who is going to what school, etc. The truth is very few make it. Now Pike I think has a chance. I have no idea as a quarterback, but due to his pedigree and size. I wish all the players the best, but do think the posters perspective can be questioned. Furthermore, if the players are true D-1 prospects, they will be able to take a little heat. If not, they aren't the real deal anyway. No need to be velvet soft.

I just looked at rivals.com i was stunned to see 5 offers already one was UK. It says Pike runs a 4.7 in the 40 I'am impressed.

 

In comparison , Will Bardo ran a legit 4.5 forty. Of course his injury to his throwing arm in the X game played a huge factor in what college he is attending. UD landed one great athlete/ QB.

 

I'm just hoping all these great QB's stay injury free and put on a great show.

I have a question, If he is 17 as a sophmore will he be in jeopardy of not being able to play his senior year? I thought there was some rule that you could not be 19 before August of your senior year. Someone please help me with this one.

That would depend on when he turned 17. If he turned 17 during his sophomore year (after Aug 1), then he would turn 18 after Aug 1 of his junior year and then 19 after Aug 1 of his senior year. Thus no problem with complying with that rule.

It would not be hard to believe that any of the schools listed as having offered Pike were doing so based on his size, athleticism, and speed....Truth is, they might not care if he ever throws a football again in his life. He may very well project as a TE or DE in college. I doubt any of his offers are dead set on him being a QB since none of the Teams offering have ever seen him play QB against a decent team in Varsity action. If people will remember, Derek Smith had some big time offers very early, but nobody knew exactly for what position for sure until he was a Senior. Could be the same for young Mr. Pike.
