Than I am one to prove wrong. I just don't see it. Being big doesn't make you good. When i saw him play on JV, he didn't even throw the ball. He's so dang big he just ran all over those poor 15 year olds...Dixie does not have enough around them to make him the best QB. So I understand you are entitled, but in my opinion the qb's from Ryle, birds, sk are the top three...in that order.

I am sure that Pike will be a very good QB but experience is an awfully good teacher. I would take several other QBs in NKY ahead of Zeke in 2010. 2011 may be a different story with a year of experience.

You're missing the boat here. Pike will be on of the most sought after recruits at the QB position from NKY in a very long time. Trust me, it isnt because he runs over poor 15 year olds either. The kid has a tremendous arm.

You're missing my point. You must have sideline passes and have witnessed his skill because I have not. When I do witness it, I will confirm or disconfirm your belief as the best QB in the state. My feeling is, it will be the latter...

I'm pretty sure you have your mind already made up and yes I have witnessed his skills on many occasions without the benefit of a "sideline pass". I'll guess you probably seen him play once maybe twice. At this time there is no player in the upcoming JR class in all of Kentucky who has more interest from college programs than Pike. According to one recruiting website, here is the list of schools showing interest.

 

Auburn, Boston College, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kentucky, North Carolina, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Toledo, Vanderbilt

Pike threw the ball alot last year at the JV level with mech accuracy. He has really good recievers in Leonard, DeMatteo, and Cohorn to go to. I believe Cohorn was his main reciever last year, and he's gotten much faster and stronger than last year. And they have Bruns running the ball. He should have a solid year IMO.

Which basically means you can chalk up his SR year in HS as a college freshman playing with HS kids. I have said it many times, a former NFL player told me a couple years ago that there was a study done and like 85% of all professional football players were holdbacks at some point during their school years and graduated at 18 or 19. I think his pops has a plan for him and I hope the kid does well and makes it.

"Showing interest" is very subjective to say the least.

I understand that he may have attented those camps but you don't get an offer from a one day camp without them seeing you play a game. Their are a lot of people that look good throwing in shorts and tees but the coaches want to see how they react when the pressure is on.

 

So I guess his offers are out of pure speculation. Cmon guys, we are all pretty much forum critics on here and not college coaches. The college coaches know what they're looking for and whether it's in a pressured game or shorts and a tee shirt the COLLEGE COACHES like what they see in Pike. Perhaps their looking at him as just an athlete that can make their program better. Either way, doubting a decision made by some big time college evaluators/coaches is a joke, but I guess we are entitled to our opinions.

IMO the best qb will be the one with the best receivers and oline.

I am not saying I have a better eye, but i have not seen it as a Quarterback. He is obviously very big with a family history, sure he is garnering interest...I just don't think he is top 3 in NKY this season. But he may have good games against the likes of Scott and Holmes.

I second everything you say. Sorry I'm just not sold on Pike. I also agree that having size doesn't make you D1. There were a few kids last year in NKY that had the height and I only know of one going to play D1.

I just looked at rivals.com i was stunned to see 5 offers already one was UK. It says Pike runs a 4.7 in the 40 I'am impressed.
