It is not the only factor, although I do consider it to be an important factor.

 

I love Patrick Patterson as much as the next person. But he's only played in 3 NCAA Tournament games. He has great numbers, but I refuse to get caught up in the emotion and retire his jersey.

 

After looking at his numbers, I think he has a legitimate case & deserves mentioning. I'd reconsider my stance in a few years. I'm just hesitant to say "yes" this soon...

 

Oh, I agree with that thought. Way too soon right now. My point was he should be in consideration as much as a Prince, Delk or others in some ways. I look at it too as he may have had the least amount of talent to help him than any great UK player except maybe Cotton Nash. That's a huge factor in my mind. :thumb:

I love the kid, but Delk deserves to be up there a lot more than Patrick Patterson, imo.

 

I put Hayes on the same level as Pat. Sentimental crowd favorites but not worthy of a jersey being retired. If that is the case UK will never stop retiring jerseys.

I would rather argue that more people should be up than have a situation where too many are up. At this point, I'd say no to Patterson going up there.

I thought he should have took on more of a leadership role this year, instead of deferring to a freshman. That was actually one of my knocks.

Takes 4 years in my opinion, and that goes for anywhere. But that's just me.

Wins and losses usually is a result of the talent around you as much as just about you. :thumb:

If we agree that Feldhaus/Pelphrey/Farmer/Woods should be up there because of "adversity" that they overcame then PPat has to go up as well.

They greatly overachieved and stuck around while everyone else bailed. Very deserving, imo.

On that standard Reggie Hanson also deserves to be up there. He had a better reason to leave than those guys did and decided to stay.

My thoughts as well.

I say no as of now. I do think his signing with UK has been really big for the program, but not as big as Mashburn coming to UK was. Now 20 years from now I may change my mind, but right now I'd say no.
