Agreed! 4 team tournaments are ridiculous.

Actually, the schedule has been updated for the state this weekend and D1/D2 has been combined.

Good move IMO. :thumb:

Makes sense to me.:thumb:

I mentioned in another thread there would be no KY Elite or Legends. KY Elite -- with the team from last year -- is no longer. The new KY Elite is not playing AAU because they have way too many grade exceptions and are going the USSSA route. Dylan Portwood is the only kid who played for last year's version of KY Elite that is on this version, which is ran by a different group. Not sure why the Legends aren't playing, but my guess is it's because they aren't planning to go to nationals anyway.

I believe Jackson Davis is the top player for Hoops Elite. Don't know of anybody else playing for them.

From what I hear their is no new Ky Elite, program all Ky Elite teams are under the same program. This years 12, 13 and 14 under team's coach's, coached the 14 under team last year. :thumb:

Agreed. I just meant the coaches and players on the 14s are different from the 13s last year ... with the exception of Portwood.

How is Portwood doing? What level did he play school ball this past season? How did he do? How tall is he now? Have enjoyed watching him over the years, very nice ball player. Just kind of looking for an overall update on his progress.

Why wouldn't they just play in the age group that most of the exemptions fall in?

Once they get in the 9th grade a team can have as many exemption players on their rosters that they want.

That AAU exemption rule is puzzling especially when you consider that each division is divided up by age group i.e., 12U, 13U, 14U etc.

IMO... Personally I think its a HUGE advantage for a player to play against kids that are a year younger. Want to get better play against kids your own age or even better play against players that are older.:idunno:

Dylan was dedicated to the freshman team first, then 8th grade last year and he also played a few JV games. I think he is about 6-3. He was obviously a stud in 8th grade, one of the better in 9th and competed in JV. I saw most of his freshman games.

Does anyone know how the SSS-Davis team is doing in the String Music Showcase in Nashville?

They got beat last night, not all members are present for this team and new kids are filling in. Don't know who is missing or the new ones. They play again today at 12:15. I know that that Stenzel is playing.

I agree with you on the Legends, that's just what I was told. As far as KY Elite 14U, the only kid I know is Portwood from Scott County. The rest are from the eastern part of the state. Somebody else might be able to help with the names. I have seen them play, though, and they have a nice team. But, even if they were playing in state, I would still make the Tarheels / KY Select the favorite.

I was told that Sanctioned AAU events are doing background checks on coaches and Legends coach Dion Lee past problems with the law will not allow him to coach in state or nationals

It's the NCAA Certified events that they do background checks for. That's why KY Players didn't play in any of the big tournaments last year and why they only played local....

Team Ky won both of their games today.

SS-Davis won one and lost one today in Nashville. Play again at 8:00 tonight.

Indiana Elite is off this weekend.

NKY Heat 16u has most of their players back and went 2-0 up in Dayton today in pool play. They are playing 17U this weekend. The first game was a close one winning by 6. The game was tied with about 3 minutes left and Ja'Keith Pitts (Holmes) put the team on his back and scored two quick baskets. Tate Mullins (Ryle) made several free throws at the end of the game to put it away. The second game was a 30+ point win for NKY Heat. Very balanced scoring and total team effort in both games.

They advance to the championship bracket in the 17u division. Team Kentucky and one of the Shining Stars teams are in this too. Anyone know how they did today in pool play?
