He came with GRC graduate Andrew Rogers who is now a trainer/assistant something for the UK men's basketball team. Others were with them as well, just don't know who they were besides Darius.

 

Tee Commodore, who played for Mason and also works for UK was also in attendance with Darius and Cousins.

Sorry Goldie, can't be as calm as you have been tonight. Am upset that two 6'8 guys are jacking up 3's in the 4th quarter, no defense or very little at all on two 5"9 guys and Coach Hump getting out coached yet again in the big game. Very upset at the Cardinals, who I looked forward to seeing at Rupp this year, as I did last year. What's the saying? fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, I forget the rest. Most other regions use a neutral site: Johnson Arena, Expo Center, Bellarmine, Diddle...etc.

 

Is this just the best venue in the region or what?

Short version - 5,400 seat facility located centrally in the Region, with the four districts voting on tourney location when it's the particular district's turn (this year was the 38th's turn in the rotation).:popcorn:

On the bolded, you're probably right. We haven't had enough discussion on this topic; maybe someone will start a thread.

I just don't particularly keep up with that much details of 10th region basketball. I'm aware of the teams and players, but not necessarily the host sites for the tournaments, etc.

I thought this was one of the pivotal plays of the game. There looks to be a jump ball, foul goes against MC player, coach goes livid and out of the time out the Royals had that look that they were not going to be denied.

 

I have a series of this that I will post later tonight. Looks like it was a horrible call but I really think that it lit a fire under MC.

I am glad that you brought it up. I could not believe this, I was baffled to see the foul.That just further justifies my continuous statement that the better team on that given night wins. We were patient when we needed to be, smarter, and played harder. It also helps that Tradition Never Graduates at Mason County as we have been in that moment so many times and that is always something you like to have on your side in the big game.

I was thinking of that in my post (#63), but you're right that it hasn't been specifically referenced. The biggest difference in this game was: O'Hearn > Humphrey. If I've got a 6'8", 215 lbs. big-man on my roster and he takes 22 shots, 18 of them better be from under the basket. That was not the case last night with Zollo.

 

I really do think coaching was the main difference, but I also have to give credit to Mason County's guard-play. Their backcourt was excellent from start to finish.
