At one point in time didn't Grant County (perhaps before it was Grant County High School???) win a national championship? For some reason I thought I saw a banner in the gym. I may be wrong????

Not that there couldn't be more than one Tyler Jones...but, yes, I believe this one is the one that led Grant County to the regional championship game back in 2003.

 

He was not on staff this year, but I believe he had been the freshman coach the year before.

Hicks has applied at Greenup(Lord only knows why, hope it's just a rumor) Grant, and Boyd. That cat wants to bail out of Bath in any direction he can. And not long ago the Bath posters (both of them:lol:) were so enamoured with Coach Hicks and he was the best thing to happen to that county and now what do you have? He's loaded in the catapult and doesnt' care in which direction it's aimed.:walk:

I would assume that's Steve Simpson, head coach of South Oldham, who is from Grant County and is a former AD of Grant.

Yes. I use the word confirmed, I haven't actually seen the resumes. There are like ten interviewers being used to form a couple of committees. One of these interviews told me. I didn't want to ask this person who all the applicants were, this list of names is just the people that I am vaguely famliar with. They all seem like good candidates. Whatever happens, Grant County Boys Basketball will be in good hands.

 

Is it logical to assume that Hundly will want to try and get the Scott County job when Billy Hicks retires? If so, how long until this occurs?

Okay so those that you mentioned are not confirmed then. Hicks isn't going anywhere anytime soon I assume. Why would he? Hundley may try to but for right now he is the best candidate IMO along with Hicks and Rose Hills old coach who has applied, not sure his name though.

Hundly

Steve Wright

Simpson (Not sure on first name)

Tim Mefford

Tyler Jones

 

I do not know all of them but these few are indeed in the mix. This is a pretty good list and the administration has a difficult choice ahead of them. I wish them the best.

According to one of the interviewers (one who will conduct the interview) the people listed above are on the list of peope scheduled to be interviewed.

 

I never suggested Billy Hicks wants the Grant job. I am assuming that at some point (possible within a few years) Billy Hicks will decide to retire. Will Hundly want to be his replacement whenever that happens? Does anyone have any insight on when that could possibly happen?

One name I heard tossed around at the Sweet 16 was Nick Napier (an assistant at Scott County since 2007). I would think he could be in serious contention if Grant County wanted to hire someone young and energetic to rebuild the program.
