Can't comment about the interim coach and status. I do know that GC has produced 2 regional champs and a runner-up in the last 55 years. Having said that, I'm positive that if GC were to be a regional finalist/champ within the next decade, that would be a major accomplishment for the program. As for comparison between SC & MC, doesn't really matter because they're in a different district/region. With regards to Walton, great program and they have been successful the last few years...congrats to them! Maybe....that's why it's taking longer than it should.

Thanks for the info. So I was wrong. One appearance every twenty years is what can be expected. Why exactly are they taking so long when they have a current qualified teacher who won't leave?

How can you be so sure it is Fraley? I know he interviewed but there was other as well who interviewed that are experienced, like Hicks, who I am hearing it could be. I would like to see Tim get it, if they are going out of district, nothing against Hicks, he is a good coach, just happen to know Tim is a great guy and would be fun to see what he could bring to the program. But I will say that they do have a guy that would not leave in Utter if they pick him. He is a great young coach.

How is it a big mistake wanting someone who is more experienced and has a better knowledge of the game? The kids deserve the most qualified person to push them and establish a winning tradition not just a good guy who everyone likes. Just because the interim coach teaches at Grant doesn't mean that he is the best choice.

I said it was my opinion. I think experience is a joke. There are a ton of great coaches that had to get a start somewhere. Grant County isn't going to send a bunch of kids to play college basketball or compete for regional titles every year. They have one gym. Their gym time is shared. It just makes sense to me to hire a guy who is qualified who is already there. Are there even openings for teaching jobs at the high school for the other candidates?

Experience is not a joke. They could of definitely used some coaching experience in the district game. Its hard on a coach when its a first district game as a head coach and the game is very very close. I believe experience could of helped big time.

He coached 3 years JV and 1 year assistant Varsity. You could call that experience if you would like. My response was to you saying that experience does not matter. Not on the basis on how they will gain it.

I agree with you and think they need to get the right coach, but I know of no 6'5 kid on the team. They graduated the two big guys Davis and Wartman. The Kearns kid could be who you are thinking of but would not really consider him a big man. Kohler subbed alot for Davis at Center, he is only about 6'1 or 6'2. The braves should be guard and small forward heavy the next couple of years with a couple of true big guys coming up.
