Steve Simpson applied for the job?

 

I forget the first name. A former GC guy.

One name I heard tossed around at the Sweet 16 was Nick Napier (an assistant at Scott County since 2007). I would think he could be in serious contention if Grant County wanted to hire someone young and energetic to rebuild the program.

 

What's his background other than being with Scott County? Did he play somewhere?

Taylor Jones played at Gallatin, Tyler Jones played at Grant. No relation.

Jim Bob, I was told he the nephew of the Scott Co. coach. He is at Bath Co. after a short stint at Greenup Co.

IMO, Tyler Jones won't have a chance of getting the job since he quit the freshman job when he didn't get the JV job. He must have applied just to see what kind of reaction he would get from the Grant Co. administration.

I heard that Hundley has withdrawn his name for this job. I'm guessing that good things must be happening with the Woodford position?????

I have heard that Josh Cook, Head Assistant to Coach Dave Fraley at Knott Co. Central 14th Region Boys Champs and 2009 June Buchanan Head Boys Basketball Coach (record 18 wins and 8 losses) has been chosen for an interview on Monday 4/12. Young energetic Coach that really understands the game and can relate to his players. Would be a good choice for Grant Co. to bring a new face and someone with the energy to re-build this program.

A few of the reasons. (1.) Better teaching position in public v.s. private schools.(2.) Better pay and better benefts.(3.) Chance to coach with and learn under an experienced and former State Tourny. winner in Coach Dave Fraley. (4.) Coach Cook was already familiar with a good percentage of the Knott Co. Central players coaching them in Freshman & J.V. when they were at June Buchanan before they transferred to K.C.C. An good example of this was when Coach Josh Cook's Knott Co. Central J.V. team won the Ky. State Boys Basketball Junior Varsity A.A.U. Champsionship in June, 2009 by Beating a very good Scott Co. team by a score of 49 to 47. How many young Coaches have added a Ky. State Championship title to their resume?

From what I have heard there are some other reasons he was only there for a year. I thought some Dr. was the head assistant at KCC? Be a bad choice for Grant imop maybe make them a good jayvee coach, no expierence.

I believe this is the same Knott County J.V. team that lost in the Varsity division on Sunday morning and played two players on J.V. that started Varsity that morning. Not that he is a bad coach but don't try and hype something up that doesn't need to be hyped up...if a kid is starting varsity (regardless of age) they should not play J.V. This is an unwritten rule among coaches, they must not have gotten the memo.

 

But also Tates Creek won the Varsity division and didn't even make it to the 11th region finals so summer really means nothing. Nevertheless, he may be a good coach but I don't think this supporting evidence is as strong as you think.
