Sewell has acomplished great things this season and IMO opinion Justice has the best high school career of any of the Ky seniors. IMO these are the top two candidates. Its no secret Im hoping Justice wins and I feel his numbers and career speaks for itself. IMO opinion if Trinity gets upset in the regional and SV and Justice play well for 2 or 3 games at the state tourney Justice could make a strong late push to win the award.

Put Sewell, Chiles, Jones, or any ohter top senior in Louisville in SV's region for 4 or 5 years or however long Justice has played varsity ball and let's see what stats develop for them there.

Career???? Man, at Ballard, Eastern, and even Trinity, freshman and sophomores with talent often have to wait their turn.

Stop comparing apples to oranges, that's what you're doing when you compare career stats of county players to those in the city.

Sewell is the rightful owner of the award based on THIS season.

Elisha Justice has done more for his team in four years of high school ball than any other candidate for Mr. Basketball.

1. BACK-TO-BACK All "A" State Championships (2 MVP's)

2. TWO 15th Region Championships (could be 3)

3. TWO 15th Region All "A" Region Championships

4. School record 3 consecutive district championships (could be 4)

5. State record for career steal (over 500)

6. 2000 point club

7. Led school to first ever win in state tournament last season

8. All this while playing for a small, rural, public school (All the other candidates are from big cities or don't have any post season championships.)

9. 4.0 G.P.A.

This is 9 of many reasons why Justice will win Mr. Basketball!

He plays against weaker competition. He is not the best player in the state this year. Sewell has played a better schedule and is the best player in the state. Justice beats up on Eastern Kentucky teams. If Justice played in the 11th, 7th, 6th, or 9th region he would not even be in this conversation. His career stats are better because he has started 4 years. Take him to Scott Co, or Holmes, or Trinity, or Ballard and he would not start as a freshman. He would wait his turn. Lets compare his stats this season with Sewell. Justice has been the center of Valley's offense for 3 years playing average teams on good nights and below average teams on most nights.

Unfortunately I have to agree with your stance. Trinity is likely to falter in the regionals against powerhouses in a row whereas Shelby Valley will face a weak path to the 16.

Then the swing vote of the mountain who vote for their boys is gonna be tough for Sewell to pull.

Wait and see is correct.

Ok if you guys just want to look at this season Justice is averaging 20 points,

6.5 assist, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals a game.

Just for kicks I went and checked out the KHSAA stats. They list the top 15 in major offensive categories. Justice didnt make any Top 15's and Sewell made one Top 15 being 14th in Free Throw Percentage.

Its not a given Trinity will make it to the state, albeit they have surely shown they can win 3 in a row against top teams, unlike Shelby Valley who hasn't played against 3 top teams in one single month much less in a 4 day period.

If the do win the 7th, geez, everything else should be gravy.
