I don't see where you think Louisville is centrally located. :confused: If you look at a map of Kentucky, Lexington is smack in the middle.

Looks like some of us slept through geography class.....

Loved having it in BG, perfect size stadium for this. Papa was too big. I do agree that the press boxes sucked vs Papa but the Hilltopper Room was on par with Papa. Parking a non issue at Western or Papa for me. I hope it never goes back to EKY, way to poorly located for many

I loved it at WKU. I am from BG so I am definitely biased. I also live in Boyle County and liked the atmosphere a lot more at WKU compared to Papa John's. Other than making the parking situation at the garage better managed, I have no complaints whatsoever about it being in BG.

 

 

I think those complaining about the drive are reaching. Unless they have it at a school located near you, you are going to have to drive. Louisville is closer to Boyle County than BG is, but if my Rebels make it to state I'll drive to Paducah, Ashland, Murray, etc to watch my Rebels play in the state championship. Location is not an issue at all.

 

EKU is less than 40 minutes away, but I'd much rather drive to BG.

Never mind.

People who like to take in all six games are in the minority compared to the total number of fans who come for one game and maybe a part of another game.

 

Personally, I can't see taking off two days of work especially to spend that much time in Bowling Green. Two days and one night is enough. With all respect, there's far more to do in Louisville, Lexington, and Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati and that will make a difference if you want two games over three days since there will be more down time with people looking to go and do something.

 

There are so many variables involved, but three days will not produce higher attendance per se, but it will produce more expenses. Those concerned about cold should understand it is the second weekend in December (that's another story) because our playoffs involve many teams that have no business being in the playoffs (another drama).

Here is the funny thing about this. If we accept Lebanon as the geographic center, Louisville, Lexington and Richmond are all almost exactly the same distance from that point and Bowling Green is only about 30 miles further away than those three. So you can argue Bowling Green is a little further geographically but the other three are all equally the same geographically.

Other than traffic after the Boyle / Lone Oak game BG was a great place to hold the championships. The city of Bowling Green should have had police directing traffic. Our game was an exception with the double overtime we were leaving just after 5pm. When you couple game traffic with regular friday 5pm traffic it was hectic. But my Rebels won so its all good. We look forward to attaening the championships at WKU for years to come.:clap:

Let Richmond bid on it. I will enjoy the fallout when they don't get it.

 

As has been said by me, by others, what feels like a thousand times, the games will probably go back to Louisville whenever it is deemed they can guarantee the availability of Papa John's. It MIGHT go to Commonwealth if they ever got turf, which everyone seems to be in agreement they won't. I think EKU needs to overhaul their facilities to have a shot. If it was felt that EKU was relatively close to WKU in terms of facilities, I could see it going there.

The point being that there really is no geographic advantage in having the games in Louisville, Lexington or Richmond and only a slight disadvantage in Bowling Green. I keep seeing posts where everyone acts like Bowling Green is way out of the way and it really isn't. When looking at the above options, location of each in the state should be a non issue in this debate.
