The kids don't choose where they play. As a fan of a 2A team, the Fort Campbell Falcons....I'm obviously an Andrews advocate. Now that the season is over, he gets my non-official vote based upon stats and stats alone. I've only seen McShara in action (in their come from behind championship win) and I think that Andrews was better at 75-80% than McShara was at 100% in their respective title games. No homerism intended either.

 

I can't discredit anyone else in the "race" because I haven't seen any of them play, I think before you make remarks like those, you should base your non-official vote (unless of course you're one of the few that gets an official vote) on stats and stats alone until you've actually seen each player play.

 

The bottom line is that it's not broken down by the six classes of football that represent the commonwealth of KY.......so until it is, please respect each player for what they've accomplished on the football field, not what they couldn't do at the next higher class.

 

I'm tired of reading the various posts that have the "Andrews couldn't play to that level in the bigger classes". What makes the bigger classes so much better? Are the linebackers bigger? Are the holes on the offensive line harder to find? Are the defensive backs taller?

 

The bigger classes are just that, bigger classes.....just my two lincolns.

Classes don't define any of these young men, you grow up where you live, and you play where you live. That doesn't mean you aren't as good as those who live in a more populated area. I've seen Miles do things I've never seen many do, but you've seen Antonio do things that I haven't. The guys who vote probably haven't seen either, so it's a crapshoot. We are all blessed to have seen these young men excel not only on the field but also as leaders off the field.

Honestly, I think either MacShara, Andrews or Hayden will win the award and if they do I congratulate them. When it's all said and done Miles will be frying bigger fish, hopefully at the state University of Kentucky. All of these young men are more than worthy, it's just a matter of the vote. As fans of the Rebels, Falcons, Eagles and Pioneers we should be gracious that they were able to suit up every week for our teams, good luck to all.

You are correct - he had a terrific year and we are glad he is being recognized accordingly.

 

He is also a GREAT young man with his head screwed on right and his life's priorities aligned where many of us wish we could be - he is a good Christian kid and has tremendous values.

 

I wish him success which will surely follow him wherever he goes.

I guarantee St. X would not beat Boyle County by 50. I guarantee it. Write it down, put it in stone. I guarantee it. Not a team in this state would beat Boyle County by 50. Honestly, I think there are less than 5 teams that would beat Boyle County and SK sure isn't one of them. Unfortunately, we won't get to see that happen. Then maybe one of the "small school boys" and "one of the kids" would get a little more respect.

I'm not sure but I always thought that Mr. Football was decided on regular season performance. Does anyone know for sure what the criteria is?

I was shocked that Collinsworth didn't make the final cut. I thought he would be in the top 3-5 candidates at least, with a shot to win it.

While I think AC is as good as anybody in the state, I'm not surprised he didnt' make the cut, given the amount of time he missed. The ones who made it sure have some outstanding stats to make their cases.

Great player with tremendous potential. Didn't have the numbers to receive awards based on this years stats due to injury. Awards that are judged on ability or career stats he should be a lock. I've ask in several threads what the criteria for Mr. Football or All-State is and no one seems to know or is willing to share.

Guess I'm crazy too. :idunno: I see no reason why Boyle would not have a chance against SK. IMO Boyle is better than Henry Clay.

I like this kid and think he deserves to be on the list but his QB stats are not even as good as Lucas Witt's at LCA and Lucas is not on the list - but his teammate Domonique Hayden is with even more impressive stats as a RB.

I think if you combine the stats as a a total player, just as I do when looking at the other players (from the stats that I have seen anyway), then he is the better player than those that you mentioned.

 

Although the three rings are impressive, and the more important thing, this is not judged on the career, but this season. There are a great number of players on the final ballot, and some that got left off it as well, but I think that Antonio is slightly ahead of the others.
