For me personnaly, if I were to rate RB's in NKY, I would have Simpson all alone at the top and with a substantial gap over the next guy. He's fast, has great vision, cuts extremely well, follows his blocking very smartly, can shake tacklers or straight up flatten them at times, and is simply one tough hombre to bring down. Just an absolutely impressive kid and the best one in NKY handsdown, IMO.

 

Next I'd probably list Collinsworth, Elliott, Quanioo, and maybe Bradley. After that I think there is quite a drop off to the next tier.

 

Respectfully disagree with the "substantial gap" part. The Collinsworth kid can make cuts and change directions in traffic just as good, if not better than Simpson IMO. They are both great players who I rate 1 and 1A.

Would love to have a chance to play them again. I think SK beats them if they play again. Interested to to see how the playoffs shape up as far as the matchups between NKY 6A and the Louisville district. Would really like to see SK and Highlands tangle the last week of the regular season instead of Scott!:taz:

I think a lot of people would agree with Clyde. I know I do. I have seen Ryle play and believed them to be the superior team. No offense to SK at all. On the contrary. This is a huge win IMO. And I think Clyde would agree that the lop-sided score is even more impressive. Congrats on a big win to Simon Kenton.

Since I'm not a fan of either team it was very nice to watch from home last night. SK completely dominated every aspect of this game. The line was the biggest difference. Lawrence proved a lot of the prediction posters wrong by leaving any doubt he is the better QB. Simpson is just a stud. They had the big lineman for SK with his helmet off and he already looks like a D1 lineman. Nice paint on the face. He is a very good player. I think SK has a chance to knock off one of the big boys from Louisville. It will be a big game with Conner and Ryle and I think Conner will win this after seeing Ryle's defense against a "quality" offense.

I have a real problem with your "who had they beaten" comment. The coaching staff at Ryle doesn't pride itself into building its program into playin g a bunch of patsies to make their record look that much more credible. As I look at compared the schedules, with the exception of four opponents, Ryle and Simon Kenton play pretty much the same people. So really, your argument on schedule strength holds no water. As far as the game is concerned, Ryle was beat because they tackled poorly, blocked poorly, took tackling angles poorly, communicated poorly, etc. They need to now, re-group; pull themselves up by the bootstraps; focus on a hard fundamental week of good practice and go on.

I was stunned at how much better and how much more physical SK was than Ryle. Stunned.

 

I was even more stunned at the speed differential. I also believe that Miles Simpson is back to near 100%. His cuts were so much sharper than the Conner game and he ran a lot harder. That's huge for SK heading into the playoffs. And to the poster who said that SK had to run through St. X and Trinity to be considered the best team in NKY is ridiculous. I'm not saying that they are or they aren't. What I'm saying is that that is a horrible standard to hold any team to. Cincy St. X was the first team in 18 years to do that in back-to-back weeks. I don't believe that any team in KY (Highlands included) could pull that off. Highlands v. SK would be the best game in NKY this year. Highlands would win, but it would be the most interesting game in NKY.

Some other players that stood out for SK

#44 was all over the field defensively

#50 a stalwart on both sides of the ball

#74 awesome job getting to the 2nd level in blocking

#51 very punishing blocker

SK has many excellent players. Good luck to the Pioneers on their road to "State".:thumb:

Hmmmmm. Just want to say that all of the people on here who made fun of the post that I originally posted, well I guess I told ya so. SK dominated Ryle at the line of scrimmage on offense and defense. Also, I know that Coach Woolf will be furious this week at Ryle diving instead of driving through and tackling. I was on the end of a tirade at NewCath and we did about 200 up-downs. Heaven help Ryle's defensive starters come their next practice.

I was at the game and didn't get the benefit of the replay but it looked like the first Ryle TD wasn't a TD as the QB was a couple of yards short. Anyone watch on television who can comment? Probably didn't make a difference because Ryle was near the goal line but you never know and SK has made a couple of nice goal line stands on the season.

 

You are correct. It was not a TD but that's one of those tough calls to make. You have to somehow watch when the knee goes down and where is the ball when it does go down. I can't fault an of official on that type of call.

Its not a matter of who they've beat. Its more of a comment on the style of play that is typically associated with a Bryson Warner team. They don't get whipped physicall very often. They did against SK.

I did chuckle on the screen pass TD to Miles that put them up 42-7. Somehow the only Ryle defender within spitting distance of the play was Logan Carney who I'm guessing is in the 160 to 170 range. Coming at him were two big o-linemen including 296 pound Hansel. Heck, Hansel couldn't even find anyone to block since his partner took care of Carney (with a hold). Unless Ryle was in an all-out blitz I can't figure out where the other defenders were.

Ryle needs to get back to basic fundamentals and learn how to tackle. Not sure how many they missed tonight, but too many to count.

 

I agree...that was some of the worst tackling at this level of football that I have ever seen. This lack of tackling was the major reason Ryle got pounded.

The better team won. But the facts are as of yesterday Ryles strength of schedule is a 22.9 and S.K. 18.8. From here on out Ryles number will go up and S.K.s down. Ryle is playing Highlands twice this year becouse some other NKY teams would not play them. So if S.K. wanted to, they could have proven it on the field. We will never know. Just a couple facts.
