Would love to have a chance to play them again. I think SK beats them if they play again. Interested to to see how the playoffs shape up as far as the matchups between NKY 6A and the Louisville district. Would really like to see SK and Highlands tangle the last week of the regular season instead of Scott!:taz:

SK hammered Ryle in every aspect of the game tonight. They are a very good team and Simpson is flat-out ridiculous. His ability to stop and back up to make a tackler miss, then accelerate again in a different direction so quickly is simply amazing. Lawrence is a pretty darn good runner in his own right. Congrats to the Pioneers on an excellent game.

 

BTW, it was absolutely a fumble and a ridiculous reversal by the ref. You don't come in and reverse a call unless you are absolutely certain and he had no business doing so. That being said, refs are human and make mistakes too. While it may have changed momentum at that point, it really didn't matter. SK was the better team tonight and were going to win regardless.

 

Ryle vs. Conner next week is huge. Loser is likely looking at an away playoff game.

I hear what you are saying and a SK state title with wins over Trinity and Lou. St. X. would give pause to the thought. But there is the problem of the loss to Henry Clay, who has already lost to a team with 3 losses. And then I think about what Henry Clay had that beat SK - speed - which is what Highlands builds their whole program around. Nah. Barring a Highlands loss somewhere, I can't buy any scenario which causes me to think Simon Kenton could beat Highlands. But Simon Kenton was impressive and I am hopeful about their chances to finally bring a 6A title to N. Ky.

 

The one thing that I think makes SK a bigger threat this year than last year is that they do have a fairly decent passing game to complement their outstanding running game. They didn't have that element to their offense last year. Once Trinity shut down their run game last year, they didn't really have a plan B to fall back on. This year they do.

Hey, I'll give you your props. You made a pretty solid call there, except for the part that two of Ryle's scores would come against SK's second team. My hats off to you. Now if I could just get you to offer me some advice for who I should start on my fantasy teams this weekend.

I was at the game and didn't get the benefit of the replay but it looked like the first Ryle TD wasn't a TD as the QB was a couple of yards short. Anyone watch on television who can comment? Probably didn't make a difference because Ryle was near the goal line but you never know and SK has made a couple of nice goal line stands on the season.

I agree about the fumble. When I got home and watched the tape the first Ryle TD should have not counted, he did not make it in. They probably would have scored on the next play anyway. Don't think call either made a difference on the outcome of the game.

Well, it might have changed something in the short term - maybe Ryle gets the ball on a short field and somehow works a score to tie the game . This would have served to temporily change the momemtum of the game at that point - but it would only have been briefly. SK was playing so well that the overall momemtum would have quickly swung back in their favor and the final outcome would have been the same resounding victory.

I don't know. What down was that? I'm thinking it was third down (maybe wrong). As good of pentration as SK's d-line was getting all night long, it certainly conceivable that they could have stopped the next run and prevented the score.

Not close but I do believe Simpson is the best back in NKY if not the state.

For me personnaly, if I were to rate RB's in NKY, I would have Simpson all alone at the top and with a substantial gap over the next guy. He's fast, has great vision, cuts extremely well, follows his blocking very smartly, can shake tacklers or straight up flatten them at times, and is simply one tough hombre to bring down. Just an absolutely impressive kid and the best one in NKY handsdown, IMO.

 

Next I'd probably list Collinsworth, Elliott, Quanioo, and maybe Bradley. After that I think there is quite a drop off to the next tier.

I agree. I really thought Collinsworth was comparable but Simpson is even a notch above him. The tackle breaking ability of Simpson along with the size, speed and cuts make him truly special. I think there is a gap from Simpson to Collinsworth and the same gap from Collinsworth to the next tier of backs.

I was stunned at how much better and how much more physical SK was than Ryle. Stunned.

 

Really surprised to hear this from you Clyde. What do you base your stunned status on? I mean, take a look at it closely. What had Ryle done to make you respect them? Who had they beaten?
