I watched the game in the rain last night and in the comfort of my family room tonight. What a neat deal that Fox Sports Ohio puts on for high school football fans and the teams. Quite a production. They cleared out the bus garage for the satellite trucks, semis, crew parking etc. I hear that it took a crew of about 30 to put on the production. Good stuff and something that those kids will probably remember for awhile.

 

Ironically though, the television coverage killed the gate receipts. I talked to several people who said they would have gone if the game hadn't been on television. Understand the local sports bar was quite busy.

 

Gotta love Lap whether he is doing high school, Big 12 or Bengals.

Wrong. It wasn't a horrible effort. It was horrible execution and there's a big difference between the two. Warner and Wolfe do not allow their teams to put forth terrible efforts and Ryle's team doesn't consist of players who put forth terrible efforts. They weren't "flat" either. They simply got hammered by a bigger, faster, stronger, and better team. Perhaps we'll get a chance to see them again and redeem ourselves.

I agree with some of that argument because poor execution includes dropped balls, missed tackles, and missing blocks and certainly that about sums up the evening. IMO it wasn't a great effort either. It really could have been a lot worse. Warner and Wolfe better get at it....

I think the weather and TV both played a part in a small gate but I think if the weather was good, they would have had many more fans. I know a few diehards that left at halftime that wouldn't have left if the weather was better. I agree about the production, 1st class all the way.

On tv the official was looking right at the play. It was horrible, you seem to make a lot of excuses for bad officiating.:irked:

Many players that Lettered as sophmores. Started J.V. as freshmen who no longer play or are playing for other schools.

 

 

I believe that had more to do with the opening of Cooper and the players being required to move by the BC BOE!

Not even remotely close. It's ridiculous to think that the two plays are comparable. The turnover would have occured when the game was 7-0 and Ryle would have it on the 25 going in. The TD made the score 22-7 and it was off of a 1st and Goal play from the 1. I agree that he probably was not in but to compare the two plays and relate their significance would be obtuse. :ohbrother:

Take the shades off Woody. SK is a better team, I wish they would have gave it to them so Ryle would have scored, tied it up, and then lost anyway. Conner got up 14 to start the game and we know what happened in that game. Good teams can withstand a punch in the mouth and respond positively, I guess the flat excuse would have went into effect then. Just don't understand how you dominate a game and get these skeptics sitting back and whining about one call. They lost by 20. Ryle is a good team, who ran into a better team that executed there game plan to perfection. Move on please. Good luck rest of the season Ryle.

That's the way we want it called (or not called). A little jersey grabbing means nothing. Let 'em play.

 

I thought it was a pretty well-officiated game. Remember, officials don't have the benefit of instant replay at this level and use very different "if in doubt" principles because of that fact.

 

It's pretty easy to ref a football game from the comfort of the couch with the DVR remote in hand. I know, I do it too.

Fair points offsides. It is much easier to see things from the TV. And I definitely agree with the philosophy of letting them play. We do have very good refs in N Ky

Impressive win for SK..I'm not that familiar with either team, but, when I saw this matchup this week, I was curious to see how it would pan out..SK proved they're a legit 6A contender and maybe the 2nd best team behind St X, with Trinity being a little down from there normal standards and Henry Clay taking a step back these past few weeks and Male not the Male of yrs past..

 

For those familiar with 6A more than myself, do you agree or who else is out there that may be any better? Fern Creek? Butler? Scott Co? Others?

I'd like to see a Trinity v. SK match-up this year, but the only way it would happen would be in the finals again, right? Trinity may be down from their normal standards, but could probably still beat most of the teams in-state and SK has improved a lot more than I had expected since last year. I think SK might have a shot at beating them with Miles and Chad running like they did last night along with the passing attack to mix things up. It certainly wouldn't be a 50-something to 0 shutout like it has been.

Officials may not have the benefit of watching instant replays, but they do have the benefit of standing less than 10 feet from the action on two of the biggest plays of the game -- the non-fumble that was and the touchdown that wasn't (yet.) I think in these 2 cases they were literally right on top of the action. Both teams impacted, but not of equal impact to the momentum of the game.
