How did Dixie score 9? If Cincy St. X only scored 7 against the Birds.....Is Dixie better than X? :sssh:

Highlands is a machine. Is there anybody in Northern Ky that can play with them?

 

Not within the Greater Cinci Area with Bardo. W/out him, KY is still quite a stretch probably nobody in the state that beats them. Highlands is good.

It's silly, but it's a legit question. St. X only scores 7, Dixie scores 9? But then St. X goes over and looks like a different team against Elder. Not taking away from HHS, they won it and deserve it. But it lends credibility to the idea that St. X may have been flat last week and HHS did exactly what they needed to do to take advantage of that (Which is fine, since that is what good teams do).

 

Dixie is not better than St. X to answer the question, but it certainly is interesting to think about it. Is any team that scored more than 7 against HHS this season better than St. X? Not neccessarily. From what I heard HHS defense was just stellar that night.

 

If St. X was flat that's their problem. I'm sorry but I've always thought the idea of playing flat is kinda silly. In HS if I knew I was getting ready for a game I was pumped. No matter who it was, St. X of Cinci had beaten Trinity and St. X of Louisville but they really hadn't done anything huge unless you're a kentucky football follower. Outside of us and their history, their really wasn't anything special about those wins for St. X. So the whole they were flat argument just seems pretty sad, and if they were, then I hope they learned from it. Shoot I bet some of you will probably argue St. X's over sight fueled them with anger to this victory.:lol::deadhorse::lol:

I dunno, HHS as been ranked much much higher than they are now. They're amazing, but that's not what this is about. Just saying I think people will excuse St. X winning as being down. Pathetic. HHS came with a plan and Mueller exceuted, he's a solid solid, SOLID coach, always gets his players to buy in, and I think that's exactly what happened here.

Wow,you sure have a lot to say based on other peoples opinions. Thats hearsay,and would be thrown out of the courtroom!! Cincy X beat Elder with the same game plan that they used at the Highlands game. They used wide receiver screens,bubble screens,and a whole lot of running,right up the gut. Those are their offensive strengths,and Highlands just shut them down,while Elder's defense had no answer for X's offense. Maybe you should start going to the games that you are posting about,then your opinions would carry a little more weight!!!

I thought Wilson, the Dixie quarteback was brilliant. He was under a heavy rush all night and avoided some sacks with some very neat last ditch moves. He used excellent judgment concerning when to pass and when to run and turned chicken poo into chicken salad on a number of plays. He also held onto the ball despite being gang tackled and having numerous hands trying to strip the ball. His throws were mostly on the money and those that were not were made either while on the dead run or with a hand right in his face. His receivers tended to catch the ball and then cough it up as pointed out elsewhere on this thread. Without him there would have been a running clock early in the game.

I would also like to say something about the referee who ignored the player who ran to the pile up and kicked a player in the back. It happened straight down the 50 and the referee was standing within 5 yards of the play. If he saw it and chose to ignore it, he needs to find something else to do on Friday night. If he did not see it, I wonder what he was watching if not the play right in front of him. The Highlands crowd certainly saw it and let him know their opinion. By the way, I am a Beechwood fan who was neutral and just enjoying a football game on a perfect Friday night.

I hope the Dixie players keep their head up as the mistakes they make are correctable and they do not come from a lack of talent.

Wilson is one of the two or three best QB's in N. Ky. this year. He will have a tough time surpassing West as the 1st team QB on the all star teams. West had a lot more pre-season hype and is backing that hype up with a great season. But Wilson is probably #2. Kremer from Campbell Co. is putting up big numbers. Erpenbeck is having a good year at CCH. Lawrence is having a good year. Of course, Bardo is now injured so he is not in the discussion. Wilson is #2 IMO.

Despite the fact that Towles is a sophomore, he reminded me of a right handed Bardo. He didn't run the ball much, but the one time he scrabbled and then ran down the sideline, he showed impressive speed. He has a very strong arm and good accuracy. Add to that the fact that he is 6'4 and you have quite a combination.

Highlands played quite a few sophomores on defense. Drake Bruns is a heck of a hitter. I would like to see him on offense also. I think in the future he will be.

There were numerous times he had recievers wide open in the middle of the field and elected to throw into heavy coverage. There were a hand full of passes that weren't anywhere close to being on the money. Wilson did run the ball very well and stood up to some very cheap shots by the birds.
